Hey ladies was just wondering if anyone has ever tried acupuncture for fertility reasons or weight loss or anything else really! if so did you feel it helped in any way??

hi ya,

i've had 3 acupuncture sessions so far for infertility. 1st two sessions were to help me relax and get the system moving because it was past ovulation period. I felt totally relaxed and mood was good. No sudden depression or feeling down at all. Last week, 3rd session was during AF and to be honest, I didn't feel anything different. AF was not particularly heavier or lighter (but I thought it would be heavier because acupuncturist said 2nd session was to "clean" the system). I have my 4th session this afternoon and today is CD12 for me and still no sign of ovulation.

I will keep you updated if there's any changes! Best of luck!

I've done a lot of acupuncture in the past and, in fact, plan to start back up in a couple of weeks. I have PCOS and don't ovulate at all on my own. I felt like it definitely helped in some ways, but I never ovulated while being treated. I did see improvements in my "cycle" though. While I was being treated for infertility, I was having some major (totally unrelated) knee pain. I went to a regular doc, had x-rays, etc. and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I got an acupuncture treatment for it and the pain was completely gone the next day...and never returned.

If you get treated for infertility, you'll likely have to go on a strict diet and take lots of herbs. Just thought I'd throw that in in case you didn't already know. :)

Hi, me and my husband have just started trying accupuncture. I've read alot of women have had success using it so we're giving it a go. I've only been for one session but really enjoyed it. Keeping my fingers crossed for this month.

I did acupuncture for 4 months last fall/winter and then started up again a couple months ago. I like that she is really working with me based on where I'm at in my cycle - different points before and after ovulation, for instance.
Acupuncture helps my periods be a bit heavier (they are *too* light if you can imagine such a thing!) as well as improving my circulation. She mentioned that my "conception channel" needs to be opened, but honestly I have no idea what that means, lol. We did try the herbs last year but they didn't seem to be helpful so discontinued them.
At my session today she put some in my ears and one between my eyebrows - that was strange since I hadn't had those points before. Lets hope it did the trick!

I have had 3 acupuncture sessions now. Every two weeks I go. I feel it has already made a big difference to me. I am relaxed, positive and the brown spotting is reduced rommy period. My bleed is also much better.

Totally recommend it

Thanks ladies think i will definitely give it a go - i have nothing to lose! i am hoping it may help to start up my periods so fingers crossed and best of luck to you all!! x

It has made a great difference with my periods and sanity lol

LOL cooch i am hoping it will do the same for me too then as i am on cycle day 130 and really starting to crack up!!

Hiya
We've been trying for nearly two years and decided to try chinese medicine this Summer. I have acupuncture and a massage (half hour of each) each week, and also take herbs each day - taste gross but am willing to try most things!

I've always had really irregular cycles (32-60 days) so am hoping that this will help. On the plus side, my temps seem to be a bit flatter (they were up adn down all over the place previously but I only tested for 2 months beforehand so not sure if it is long enough to tell.) Also, I find the treatment is lovely - feels like a bit of pampering which is so much nicer than the intrusive NHS treatment, so even if it doesnt work I still feel it has been worth it just for some me-time.

On the negative side, I had a period one week after I started treatment (which was about 35 day cycle) but have not had one since then, nor have my temps gone up. So it seems like this cycle is going to be at least 7 weeks long. I think I'm going to give it a bit longer though, as I understand it can take 3 months for it to start working

Hope this helps

MrsElsie

I love Acupuncture and have been receiving it for 6 months now and it does make a difference, I don't think I would be ovulating as regularly as I am now if I didn't start it ,but I also have Reflexology, My energy levels are great, my circulation is amazing I always used to feel cold and now I don't. My periods are much more how they used to be when I was in my twenties. And even if it doesn't help it makes you so relaxed it is definitely worth a try.
My neighbour who recommended I try acupuncture has endo and she was told she would never have children, 5 months of Acupuncture and she has 2 beautiful boys xx

Hello,
I was doing acupuncture last year. It did not help me conceive, but did make me feel a bit calmer, as well as give me more "red" blood during af as opposed to dark brown (I was told this is stagnant blood?). I came to enjoy going after a while, but discontinued after not getting pg, as it was not cheap! One thing I will warn you about...I went to a naturopath for the acupuncture, and on one appointment she said my pulse felt like a "pregnant pulse". For me it was very disappointing when I wasn't-I wish she just said nothing in the first place. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Both my self and my husband have tried acupuncture & reflexology. We did this for 6 months and it did help my cycles, though in the end I had to go in for lap for endo.

I am now having IUI and thinking about starting it again, though its so expensive in London.
