She is not far from her due date and is receiving income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit. She has had the HIP grant and sure start grant.

She is applying for M.A since she worked last year but isn't sure if she worked enough to qualify.

She is going to apply for child tax credit when bubs arrives.

As a single mum, what benefits is she entitled to/can she apply for?

Her inc sup is around 60, child tax credit should be around 50, child benefit 20...this doesnt seem much to me? If she does get Mat. allowance will this mean she loses her other benefits?

She is a bit rubbish at this kind of thing and asked me to help her...tried to call benefit advice line but cant get through, figured someone on here will be able to advise!!

PS...she is a single mum.

Thanks! x

Tbh that is a fair amount, some peopl only earn that when working.

Also she is getting her rent etc paid.

She should get some benefits, her child tax credit will be higher than normal. But to me that seems quite a lot if she is getting rent paid, plus she will qualify for water rates discount I think as well. Has she asked about milk tokens as well to help towards baby milk as that is pretty expensive to but. If she is breast feeding she should get tokens for normal milk for her self. Thats all I could really offer in terms of advice, Sorry!!! :)

Yeah thats like £130 a week and she'll get her rent and council tax payed for so she wont have to worry about that, Also maybe if she knows the babys dad or whatever she could apply for child maitanace but then i think they deduct money from the income support for that, My Mums managed it for years and years, she'll be ok x
