I was planning on going through our attic to see if there's anything we can sell on ebay. It does seem though that things get sold for such a low price that it's hardly worthwhile e.g. a book selling for 20p etc.

What are the types of items that you find sell best and for the most money?

Thanks! :hugs:

To be honest, everyone is after many different things so it's sometimes pot luck as to whether it goes or not. I've put DVD's on there that are years old and i didn't think they'd go but they have.

So if it was me, i'd give it a whirl anyway. Preferably not books, you may get more at a carboot or something for those but DVD's, CD's, Clothes etc are all good to go on.

Same as what squidge says really. You'll be amazed @ what people will buy. I sold all my coat hangers that you get free from the likes of mothercare etc - little things like that dont make a lot buut it all helps especially if you're saving up for something else and its better than the bin!

Books i would probably say carboot as you'll usually find they'll sell about 5for only £1 so probably ebay isnt best for that!

~I usually research ebay if i'm selling something and watch how much it'll go for before i make a decision to put it on.

If you need any more help or anything give us a pm XX

best thing to do is have alook at all your stuff, and see what similar is doing on there

i find now ebay is nowhere near as good as it was 5/6 years ago, and never really bother unless i have something specific that i know is of value

I'm no expert when it comes to ebay, but I have had some experience. I would recommend you search to see if there are any ebay shops that sell similar or the same items that you are wanting to sell.

From my own experience, collectables sell very well, things like cool childrens toys that seem to have developed a cult status like Transformers. Box set collectable DVDs also seem to go well, as do musical instruments.

You can try your hand at a bit of wheeler dealing if you know what to look for. I have bought a few guitars on there and sold them on again for a profit, but you do have to know what you are looking for to spot a real bargin, and know how much somethings actual re-sale value is.

My advice if you do decide to try this is to try buying and selling items that you have a lot of knowledge about, or an interest in which you would like to learn more. At least then it is fun to do, even if you aren't making millions.

Best of luck anyway. :winkwink:

ive found golf clubs and stuff like that sell alot, maybe some old clothes? x

100% Correct.

My wife runs a small businiess and makes most of her her money on ebay . She is constantly watching the markets to see what is popular and what is not. So as mentioned above, seach for the items you are wanting to sell and get an idea if it's worth the hassle.

Also as stated, Ebay has changed in he last 6 years. It's more of a giant online shopping mall than the swapmeet it used to be.

if its books, cds or dvds you often get much more on amazon, and they take less out of it too!
you just set up an account (if you havent got one already), go to "sell my stuff" and then type in the number on the barcode (or the name of the item) and it will show you the lowest price theyre being sold for, so you can see whether its worth it or not. i usually go for about £1 cheaper than the lowest price on there, and so far what ive put up has sold really quickly, sometimes within the hour!
amazon cover your postage costs too, they give you an amount depending on the weight & size etc of your item (pre calculated, you dont have to put that information in).
you can also keep checking your "inventory" on amazon and if someone has lowered their price you can change yours so its constantly the lowest price etc :p
hope that helps
xx

Baby cloths don't really sell that well on ebay I found. Books really aren't worth it after p&p.

Most cd's/dvd's etc will be better off being sold at a car boot, it's a hassle posting things.

Any clothes, old dresses you never wear? Any musical instruments you never play? Any computer stuff, games or hardware?

I've sold loads, the biggest being my 2 old cars and currently we're selling my OH's saxaphone.

If you register and search for the stuff you'd like to sell, have a look at completed listings and that'll tell you how much you can get x
