Hi ladies. Popping in from second tri to see if I can get some advice on choosing a breast pump. I'll be talking to my LC as well, but would really love to hear some personal accounts of the pumps I'm trying to choose between. My insurance will cover a pump at 100%, so I looked up which ones they have and these are the two best, closed-system pumps. I'm definitely going for a closed system, so I will not doing Medela, even though I know they're great for some folks!
I have a breast defect (severe hypoplasia, with IGT being incredibly likely) so my LC already has me on a medication and herbal regimen. I also had corrective surgery on one side and the doctor who did the surgery said he didn't think there was any mammary tissue there, but I'm hoping to build some up. It's been a decade since that surgery and all the scarring has healed nicely, though they did have to fully remove the nipple, remove the "banding" in it, re-size it, and then stich it back down, which could also cause issues.... but after over a decade, those might have healed. (For the record, it was not simply cosmetic- the nipple caused severe pain before it was corrected.)
Anyway! I start hand expressing at 36 weeks, then pumping at 38, so I'll definitely need to get the pump before baby arrives.
The two pumps I'm looking at are the Spectra S2 and the Hygeia Enjoye. Would love to hear opinions from anyone who has tried these, and would also love to hear from moms who are dealing with building a supply with IGT/hypoplasia/tubular breast defect
