My LO has silent reflux, shes on 0.8ml of ranitidine and was on aptamil first milk but started screaming and refusing her feeds again, so HV told me to try comfort milk. We bought it today and she normally has 7-8oz but has only taken 4-5. Is this because the milks more filling? Also she told me to wean her as shes a big girl, and maybe she would cope better with food than the bottles.

I just put her to bed and she normally takes 8oz but took 5 of the comfort milk. No crying no fussing, just wouldnt drink any more after that. Is this because shes full? Seems strange as normally she always wants more?

Thanks in advance :flower:

My dd is on comfort milk and I don't remember her taking any less when we switched her onto it but she was only a few weeks old. Comfort milk is thicker so your daughter may find it more satisfying.

Both my two were on comfort milk because of silent reflux, DS from quite early on. I don't remember if there was a difference in the amount either took but it did def help to an extent. DS used to take the bare minimum of milk but we managed to stick it out until 5 1/2 months before we weaned (he started getting lots of pain again). I would stick with it and see how she goes, as long as she's satisfied, not in pain, I would try not to worry too much about the amount. It may just be she feels fuller from it :) xx

Also make sure the teat hole is big enough for her to get the milk through easily without her having to make an extra effort, it may tire her out and make her take less if she has to work for it. xx

We've got size 3 teats, she's taking the milk much better with less fuss but still only taking 5oz when she normally has 7. She's a big girl too she's 17lb, but she seems satisfied and still slept as she normally does last night so it must have filled her up. Hopefully we're onto something good. The comfort milk stinks though!! X

DD is 10 months, so almost off formula altogether..I can't wait lol!! You will prob notice a difference with the silent reflux when she starts to sit up and when you eventually wean her. I changed back to normal formula with both of them after they were weaned. Finger's crossed for your lo anyway :)

Love your avatar pic btw, she's gorgeous!! x

Ah thank you :) she seems so much happier today, fingers crossed for the comfort milk. I'd love to not have to give her medicine all the time x

Wow your LO is gorgeous! Darcey was on SMA up until last week and was taking 5oz every 2.5-3hrs, now we have switched to C&G Comfort she will can just about manage 4oz every 3hrs, sometimes will only have 3oz. I do think its because of the thickness of the milk making her more full. I have swapped to size 2 teats aswell and she can easily get the milk out, and she does seem full, she dosnt scream for more milk after so i think its just a case of the milk being thicker. My HV is coming tomorrow and im going to ask her, i will let you know what she says x

Thank you! Be interesting to see what she says xx

She wasn't too sure but said it probably is the reason and as long as she is gaining weight its fine, and my LO is rapidly gaining weight, shes 5 weeks and nearly 12lb, almost in 3-6 clothes haha! So im not going to worry too much!

My 4 week old is on comfort sma for colic & reflux seems to be better for him up digest x
