Ok so here's the situation my dad passed away 3 weeks ago and was claiming ESA for him and my mum. My mums only getting careers allowance for my 26 year old disabled brother and was claiming no other benefit so when my dad passed my mum has nothing. So she got a bereavement payment of £2000 and was told to still claim income support as the bereavement money shouldn't affect her claiming. Well it did she's now being told she can't claim any benefit as she has this money, but the problem is she still has a £2308 funeral bill still to pay which she was hoping the social fund could help with, but of course she can't claim that either as she's getting no benefit. I'm absolutley stuck on what to do. She can't pay for the funeral or she'll have no money and she can't use the money as she's worried about the funeral.She has over do bills food to buy and she can't do anything. Plus she can't ring anyone now til monday and I don't know what to do. PLEASE someone help!!!!!
