Hi Guys i need a bit of advice, My Preemie HONOR has been home a week now she is on 3 hourly feeds during the day and 4 hourly at night, When we feed her at 10pm she seems to stay extremly awake and wont settle just keeps grumbling and crying she is acting like she is still hungry but we just cant get her to settle until her next feed at 2am. We have tried putting her down with stuff that smells of me, tried mobiles, music boxes, cuddling, giving extra feed nothing seems to help. Can anyone help me please xxxx

I have found that feeding in the pitch dark helps? Have you tried that hun?

Congrats on getting Honor home!

Sorry no advice as my lo done the same for the first 6 weeks when she came home. She did eventually start going down between 10 & 11 without me changing anything. She has been home 14 weeks now and we have had a few nights she went down around 9 so hoping this will become the new routine and eventually it will be between 7 & 8.

Argghhh! I remember this so well. We tried everything and for about two or 3 weeks the 10 til 2 time was an absolute nightmare.

So many times I only got about half an hours sleep at about 1am before she was up for the 2 o clock feed.

Looking back, we actually think she maybe didn't get enough sleep from about 7pm. When we started doing a proper bedtime routine with a bath and everything at 7pm, it did start getting better. The 10 o clock feed became a "night feed" low lights, minimal interaction etc. It helped a bit, but as far as I remember, we just grinned and beared it!

Sorry I can't be more help, but I really am feeling for you.

I was lucky because my girls slept loads.. They were pretty good. Is she on breast milk or formula?
If she is on Breastmilk maybe give her a formula bottle at that feed... Or if she is on formula get a thicker formula.. that all might help

yer shes on breast milk hun does that make a diference xx

We always found it really difficult to settle Poppy after her night feeds. The only times she went down without a problem were if I fell asleep while feeding her and so did she so she maybe had 20 mins of deep sleep before I put her in her crib. Not great practice as I never meant to fall asleep, and on the nights I managed not to I would have to sit there for up to half an hour waiting for her to go into a deep sleep :S

Bless ya thank you all, Honor is a little sneak you think shes in a deep sleep you go to move and OOOOpppssss shes awake xx

I am only just getting there with the day/night thing

Anna is fed in the dark at 8pm (as dark as it can be with still being abe to see her!), and halfway through the feed I swaddle her, to stop her waking herself up with flailing arms.
After the feed I hold her for 10-15 mins to make sure shes actually done burping and isnt going to be sick.
Then put her into her bed with a rolled up sheet on either side (waiting on sleep positioner arriving).
I only go in if shes really crying, dont if its just noises.
It took a good few days for her to settle after the 8 feed instead of keeping herself awake until after the 12 feed!

In the day time I make sure there is always noise going on, radio or tv, and keep it bright. I wake her up atleast half hour before she is due a feed or if she has woken really hungry then have a pause halfway through feed as mostly she goes to sleep after it.

Thanks Hun still no joy but guess well get there
