hi just some advice really after i had my second son i had really bad afterpains was still on gas and air 1 hr later was sure there was still a baby in there :haha:
they went on for 2 days do they go worse the more children you have i am due with my third in feb just seeing if they are worse thanks x

yeah they tend to get worse the more kids you have lol but your uterus will retract quicker and BF helps that happen too, i had to take painkillers post birth last time for the afterpains

think i might have a go at that they where worse then the labour last time think i am dreading them more then the labour lol x

arh, i never had them with my son, but guessing i will with twins! sound terrible.

Oooo I never had these with my son so im guessing this is something new to "look forward" to.. oh the joys lol

I've heard that it supposed to be more painful with each birth, but im still cooking the second at the mo. I've brought some paracetamol today to put in my labour bag just in case, seeing as when i was in hospital with my first, they had to get permission from a dr to give me paracetamol and it took hours!! :flower:

I might pack my Tradamadol!! There good pain killers I got them after havign surgery if the pain is as bad as it sounds lol

yes for me they definately got worse-this is my 9th and not looking forward to the afterpains.Breastfeeding my 8th just after the birth was agony,I wished the gas and air hadnt been disconnected (home birth)

Mine were so much worse after my 2nd that I ended up with painkillers after having a completely unmedicated labor and delivery. I think part of it is that you really don't expect to keep feeling the contractions once the baby is born. I am hoping now that I'm prepared for it, it won't be quite as icky as last time. But breastfeeding was definitely a bit painful the first 24 hours. Mine subsided within a day to being just normal period-like crampiness, and was pretty much entirely gone within 4 days. But I had some kind of prescription painkiller to handle the pain (can't remember which one).

I had bad ones with my first son but it turned out there was still a lump of placenta in there. I had not one with my second son so I suppose it's not always true.

i found a hot pack under my breastfeeding pillow on my tummy helped at feed times lol but i would reccomend something stronger than paracetamol, like co-codamol ( you can buy it over the counter ) at least for post delivery.
I think if you dont have a managed 3rd stage then pains can be worse as your uterus contracts down slower than if you have the syntocin (sp) injection which causes it to happen, but i found bleeding lighter in the weeks following a natural 3rd stage rather than with a managed one

my friend had an awful time with this. not looking forward to it at all!

lasttime mine were so bad that i ended up on codine and became addictied to it have only just stopped takign it when i got pregnant tis time 5 years later! xx

Had them with my 3rd son and wasnt too bad, my 4th son i thought i was in labour for 2 days afterwards  so not looking forward to them this time around, think i'll sneak some gas and air out of the hospital :haha:
