AHHH!!! Thumb Sucking... Make it stop!

I'm desperate for ideas on how to get my 3.5 year old to stop sucking her thumb.

It is seriously starting to affect her teeth and I'm so scared she is going to really destroy them.

She started sucking her thumb when I was finally able to get rid of her pacifier when she turned 2... But one nightmare soon turned into another.

She sucks her thumb while she sleeps which causes the most pressure against her teeth... And she sneaks sucks her thumb when we aren't in the room. We catch her and she quickly yanks her thumb out of her mouth...

Please help... I'm at a loss.

Have you ever tried that stuff you can paint on their finger nails to prevent nail-biting? It's extremely bitter and acts as a deterrent. My mom used to use this on us.
