I wrote a quick and short birth story on third tri but I would like to write a full one for people to read and me to look back on.

Little info: I was booked in for induction at 38+1 weeks due to severe SPD and carrying a large baby.

Friday 4th Oct 2013
I had an apt for 11am at the maternity day unit to check to see if I was favourable for induction and for a stretch and sweep. The midwife checked and said I was 1-2cm dilated but stretchy and she carried out the stretch and sweep. I had a few BH but nothing else and no show.

Saturday 5th Oct 2013
I lost a bit of my plug but spent the day cleaning the house, shampooing the carpets and getting the last bits I needed for my hospital bag. I had a few tightening's but nothing significant.

Sunday 6th Oct 2013 (Day before scheduled induction)
I woke up at 3:40ish to a strange wet sensation down below. I jumped up, turned the light on and checked the bed and found the pillow I slept with between my legs was wet and there was a small wet patch on the bed. I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a large amount of my plug so I was unsure if my waters was leaking or the wetness was due to the plug.
I went downstairs to tell my other half who was still up watching TV. He didn't think it was my waters but decided he would go to bed and get some sleep just in case. I chose to stay downstairs and bounce on my ball to see if anything would happen. Well I had a few Braxton hicks but nothing else so I went to sleep on the sofa.
At about 9am I called my mum to let her know what happened during the night. I got a pain while on the phone and then another one when I pulled up to her house. She decided to take my son to church with her just in case I went into full blown labour but as soon as they left the pains stopped.
We had planned to take my son to a local farm for our last day as a family of 3 but he wanted to just go to the park instead (which suited me more) then we took him to the carwash which my son absolutely loved. When I went from sitting to standing I felt a wet sensation like AF had arrived but when I wiped it was clear. This went on all day and my mum kept telling me to call the maternity unit to be on the safe side but I put off in case I was just wetting my self.
At about 6pm I went for another wee but when I wiped there was a chlorine like smell. I went downstairs and said this to my mum and she insisted I called the delivery suite as she was convinced my waters were leaking.
When I called the hospital I was told to go for a wee, put a fresh pad on and call back in two hours. Me and my OH decided to go home and pack baby's and my hospital bag.
When I was stood ironing baby's clothes ready for the bag, I could feel something coming away (like AF had started) so I went to the toilet and the pad was wet but clear so I called delivery back and I was told to go in.
When we got there I was taking strait into a delivery suite and had my obs done then the midwife checked and asked me to cough... She then confirmed my hind waters was leaking but I was not labouring there for I was best to go home and come back in the morning for my induction but also advised that I was now 3cm and things may happen during the night but I was best to go home and get sleep. I was told to call at 7am to make sure there was a bed as it was busy so off we went home to get some sleep.

Monday 7th Oct 2013
I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep because of a mix of excitement and nerves. I laid in bed till 4:30 then gave up trying to get back to sleep so went downstairs to bounce on my ball, post on baby and bump and watch the X factor. By 6:50 I couldn't hold off calling them for another second so I rung the delivery suite and was told to come in for 8am (that gave me 30mins to get showered, shaved, dressed and car packed). I called my mum and gave her a 30min warning and told my OH to wake up and get dressed.
My DS slept at my mum and dads house so when we went to collect my mum, I got all emotional and burst into tears when I saw him knowing the next time I saw him he wouldn't be the baby any more.
All the way there I felt so sick but the excitement is overwhelming too.
My OH dropped me and my mum off at the entrance and went to park the car and we made out way to the delivery suite reception.
Since I had been a few times, the receptionist recognised me and was all excited it was finally my turn. Then we were called into delivery room 12 at 8:30.
Because they believed my waters started leaking at 3:40ish the previous day, they hooked me up to IV antibiotics and said they were going to break my fore waters and then start pitocin strait away. I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to avoid pitocin but needs must.
The midwife broke my waters at 9:15am and said I was 4-5cm's already. I then asked my mum to buy a TV package so I could watch homes under the hammer to keep my mind occupied while I waited for contractions to start. Within 10 minutes I started contracting and by 9:30am I had the gas and air to help me cope. The contractions started up at 5mins apart and while my mum was on the phone to buy a TV pack, they suddenly jumped up to 3mins apart and the operator was shocked my mum was even bothering buying the TV lol :haha:
I spent most of my labour on my knees hanging over the back of the bed but they kept loosing the trace so baby ended up with a clip on his head.
At 11:30 I told them I needed to push but they thought that since this was my second baby, I was getting the urge to push early so I flipped onto my back and they checked and found I was 10cm and baby's head was sat right there.
We did a couple of practice pushes but the midwife was a bit concerned at the size of baby's head. She said it was very tight down there but she would see how things went.
I pushed actively for 5 minutes and my mum kept telling me ''I can see his little head!! push!''. Then the midwife got my mum and OH to pull my legs right back while I pushed and at 11:41 our little yellow bundle joined us. My partner then announced we had a little boy!! I am so glad we stayed on team yellow as it was an amazing feeling when I found out my baby was a boy! baby was put strait on my tummy and cried immediately and then my OH cut his cord.
We done skin to skin for 20 mins then they put baby to the breast while they checked for any tears. I was told I had a small 1st degree tear but I didn't require stitches and a small graze.
Baring in mind I gave birth at 38+1, I was shocked when we were told my little man was a not so little 9lbs 1oz (I am glad I didn't go 2 weeks over!!).

We left hospital the next day and have spent the last 8 days getting to know each other and trying to get BF established. My DS is not interested in the baby at all but to a 3years old boy, he is a little thing that cries and seems to take up a lot of his mummy's time but hopefully get in a good routine so my LO can get more time with me.

One thing I regret is not taking it easy! I have not had a day in the house yet and it had caused my feet to swell up and I am exhausted and my bleeding has increased this week. The midwife has banned me leaving the house for the next few days and has told me to take it easy :haha:
