Hi ladies...today I am 13w+4 so I feel comfortable enough to move over to the 2nd tri thread!

So lately my allergies have been flaring up some kind of terrible. From itching spells to sneezing non stop to nonstop mucus to sinus pressure and difficulty breathing :nope::wacko:

Anyone else suffering from allergies and if so how do you deal with them?

I read the 2nd trimester is a breeze but with these allergies and not being able to sleep comfortably I'd rather have the all day nausea than this.

Hope everyone and their little ones are doing great too!

Do you take any medication for them? Most of the antihistamines are safe for pregnancy. My doctor encouraged me to keep taking Zyrtec because the benefits.of having a mother who could sleep and breath would far outweigh any possible risk.

I believe occasional doses of pseudoephedrine can also be used in 2nd and 3rd tri if necessary, but I would double check with your doctor on that since it can constrict blood vessels.

I am not a big medicine taker. When my allergies act up I usually just drink tea but thought I couldnt drink tea either.

I will have to call my doc since I am not sure about any meds. I am really afraid too because this ER doc gave be b6 and this sleeping medicine that was an antihistamine to help with my nausea and i had a flushing effect and I was scared for the baby so anything that is a pill I want to stay clear from.

Thank you for the advice I will call my doc
