Hello Ladies,

Just popping my head over from 3rd Tri with a question.

My hubby has terrible eczema, asthma and other allergies. All his brothers have varying levels as well as his mum. I have been reading that if one parent has these things then there is a possibility that baby may develop them. After seeing how much my hubby suffers when it flares up, i want to try and reduce babies risk as much as possible.

Allergy UK talks about hydrolysed formulas reducing possible triggers and not introducing cows milk until 6 months.

Am i right in thinking that Extensively hydrolysed formulas - Pepti ones, are only available on prescription?

Have any other mums looked into this?

Any advice would be helpful.
P,s i am going to try and breastfeed but want a back up plan just incase.

Thanks :)

Hi my lg is now 14 months and still has severe allergies. Including dairy, soy, banana. I would personally try the baby on a normal formula if your going to use formula as there may not be a problem. They will then miss out on dairy products while weaning etc. Theres milk in everything i have to be really careful. Also the milks you mentioned are on perscription. You can buy online but they are very expensive around £30 a tin which lasts 2 days. x
