Quick question! can I use almond milk in cooking etc for weaning a 6 mth old?
I think LO has cmpi and so while waiting on the Dr to prescribe him milk, I've stopped his formula (he is combi fed) and I'm now on a dairy free diet, but I just do not have enough breast milk to use in cooking as well as feeding!
Thanks! x

We use almond milk in cooking/cereals. I cannot afford to break into my stash of EBM when going back to work in a month.

I personally wouldn't. Almonds are a nut and usually you hold off on introducing nuts until at least a year.

I have a friend who used it to mix her baby's oatmeal cereal and he had a bad reaction to it.

Holding off giving nuts until babies are older is very outdated advice. From 6 months LO can have nut products if you want, just obviously not whole nuts as they're a choking hazard.

I think this is only advised if you have a family history of allergies. My LO has been eating peanut butter since 6 months old!

Assuming there's no nut allergies in your family, then, yes, almond milk is fine. Some people also use coconut milk.

I was also going to suggest coconut milk. My LO has cmpi and if he's not over it by the summer, I plan to make him his own ice cream with it :winkwink:
