I am giving my son 2oz EBM followed by 2oz formula. Was hoping for every 4 hours but he rarely drinks more than 1oz formula before falling asleep! then he's hungry again 2-3 hours later. ANY ADVICE? XX

I would say at that age - 3hrs between feeds is pretty normal. His little tummy is still tiny so can't hold much milk. So he drinks all the EBM and only 1oz of formula - did I understand that right? He will settle down in a few more weeks. I'm no expert but 2-3 hrs between feeds was pretty standard when my LO was that young.

Yeah at that age Ruby was only drinking about 3oz every 2 hours. I won't be feeding Ruby every 4 hours until she's 4 months... 2-3 hours is perfect at that age.

thanks- maybe i will go onto 1oz EBM and 2 oz formula then xx

My DD was going about 2 hours between feeds at that age, we fed on demand and sometimes it was less and sometimes it was a bit more. She settled down to feeding every 2.5 hours at 6 weeks. We didn't move til 4 hours between feeds til 4 months. Their tummies are so small at that age that they can't go long stretches so you do have to feed more often.

My callie feeds whenever she wants on demand she is just over a month old right now and she drinks anywhere from 4 oz to 5 oz.. every 2-4 hours.. depending on if she is sleeping or not.. she will go up to 6 hours at night without anything.. but when she does get up she drinks a full 5 oz bottle .. and then again 2 hours later I think just to catch up.
