Has anyone done it?
is it worth doing it?

I went to a christmas service the other night - I had a really weird feeling come over me whilst i was there
Feel i want to explore the whole thing more.

My whole family are born again christians - they would love me to do the course so would encourage me if i asked them about it

I am planning on doing the Alpha course in Feb with my church, really looking forward to it and kinda wish i'd done it sooner, I have only been a christian for 2 yrs and feel i could really learn more and benefit more by deepening my understanding of God/Christianity/the Bible. I have only heard positive things about it and been encouraged to do so.

the first time i went to church, I was totally overwhelmed, I cannot describe the feeling and I cried and cried so so hard, it was almost like relief that somebody understood me? if that makes sense??

anyways rambling away, i do hope you try it, more than willing to share with you my Alpha Course journey in the new year if you are interested! xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks for your reply.
It was a christmas service and we were singing carols suddenly I became very emotional - sobbing at one point - shaking physically and palpitations.

Since then i just feel so much lighter in my mood and outlook.

I think there is a course starting locally in January and i think my husband wants to come and find out more too.

Alpha course is an amazing starting point if you want to explore Christianity or even the Christianity explored course if you want to start at the very, very beginning.
I did it a few years ago and my dad runs the course at our church.

Ps crying in church is completely normal :haha: I've done it many times.

Feel free to ask me questions if you have any hun :flower:

What is it? I've been brought up Catholic and have never heard of it.

I've done it before. Its ok, its a good opportunity to discuss with others about beliefs but what you actually learn from it really depends on the people leading it as so much of it seems to be about personal experience.
Also I got a free dinner each week with it which was a nice bonuc :)

I have but I still didnt feel satisfied. Alot of it couldn't be answered and just came down to "trusting the bible" and "faith".

I did it a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed it. I had a few of those 'enlightening' moments during it as well. Not only is it a good way to get some ground knowledge on Christianity, but I find it helped calm me and put things into perspective. I always felt better after I'd gone.

do you still go to church? did it help you find christianity?

We went to ours, mainly to meet new people (we had found a new church). I'd never been to an Alpha Course before and I thought Nicky Gumbel did a great job of explaining the core beliefs of Christianity. Discussions with our table group afterwards were good, too.

Well I'd gone to church on and off my whole life so it was more of a case of going because I wanted to learn more about it, become more connected and it was a new church so I wanted to be involved. At that point in my life, it helped me tremendously. I loved that church and everyone in it. I tend to be quite picky about churches I go to. I like ones a bit more liberal, but not too liberal. I still go on occasion but I work most weekends so it tends to be more special occasions. I grew up going to church quite regularly though so it wasn't like doing Alpha made me go all the time, but for those couple of years I lived where I had, I was very involved.
