My OH works at lowes and has been for almost a year now. He was supposed to get insurance in July and he still has yet gotten it done. He keeps saying he is doing everything he can and he talks to his work about it everyday but I feel like if that was true it would have been done by now. So he has no insurance and neither does our baby.

I mention it almost everyday to see if their was any change because I am getting worried because I am almost in my third trimester and still haven't gotten it done. Now my mom and dad have been bugging me about it and even said that if he doesn't get this done soon that they are going to go up to his work and make sure it gets done.

So I texted him telling him what they said and he replies "thats just going to cause more sh** and this is starting to get on my nerves mostly because you and your mom dont have a clue of how much sh** i have been through trying to get it done" I reply telling him that it is getting on my nerves too thats why we keep nagging him about it. All he says is "I am done talking about it"

Am I pushing to hard and should I back off or am I doing the right thing? :nope:

Is he part of a union? I don't know much about how getting insurance through work works but to me it would seem like somethings fishy. You are trying to get what your baby needs, you deserve to know exactly why things arent working the way they should be.

All I know is that after working at lowes full time for 6 months he is supposed to get health insurance and he has been there for almost 10 months and still hasnt gotten it done. Something has to be up but he wont let me get involed and when I try to he gets mad at me.

You are definitely not being a nag! :hugs:
Health insurance is so important... He needs to understand that. He's lucky that his work supplies insurance and he needs to take advantage of it! You are just being an awesome, loving, caring mommy!

To be honest I think you are being a little of a nag. If your OH is a trustworthy person he probably is trying to get it done.

Is he a slacker? Does he lie a lot? In that case YOU need to get a job and get the baby insurance, it doesn't just have to be him ya know?

My baby isn't under OH insurance, it's under mine and I took the responsibility to get it myself because I didn't know if I could trust him with it.

If you feel that way, do it yourself.. if not, let your man do his job. :)

I don't think you're being a nag at all. Health insurance is so important and without it, you will be paying out of pocket for your little one and that will just cost so much money! But what I would advise you is not to be dependent on him and his health insurance for your baby. Have you looked into Medicaid? I would hate to have to depend on my FOB even though we were together for a long time, I know if worse came to worse he would put him under his health insurance at work, but thankfully we qualified for Medicaid so it either would've been that or I would put him under my health insurance at work. Anyways, if you can't qualify for Medicaid, get your parents involved.. if he doesn't do it soon, then it may not be ready in time for baby being here and he'll be too late. Sounds to me like he's just procrastinating! But you're NOT being a nag!!

He is trustworthy and he isnt a slacker he just forgets things easily so I feel like he forgets to go talk to his works and puts it off. I can't get a job because I dont have my liseance yet and everywhere near me isn't hiring.

I have not started looking into Medicaid because I figured I could depend on my OH but I think I will start looking into medicaid, but give him a couple more weeks. If he still doesn't have it done I will talk to my parents and see what they think I should do.

I think that is a very wise decision. You can just keep friendly reminding him and plant a kiss on the cheek, and also look into it yourself. :)

But I do admit, it is tough finding a job when your about to have a baby and it's clearly visible. Hope everything works out!

I would start the application process now. Its quicker to change your mind than to wait. It can take months for your application to go through even if you do qualify.

Oh alright well I will talk to my parents tomorrow about it. Maybe see if they know of any other options also. I just need to get this done asap! Wish me luck lol.

Yeah I would just apply for medicaid right away, luckily for me I signed up and within a week got my approval letter, but I am sure its different in every state. I don't think you are being a nag, my OH is very forgetful about stuff like that too, lol.

Definitely apply for Medicaid right now, because trust me.. it REALLY helps! My LO has Medicaid and was born with a cleft lip and I haven't had to pay for anything and he's had a lot of doctor's appointments and lots of hospital visits.. I can only imagine how much I would've had to pay if I had regular insurance for him! Glad I went with Medicaid. Even if you do get Medicaid, you can still get your OH to have insurance and use Medicaid as the primary insurance and his companies insurance as the secondary. You will save a lot of money this way and don't be embarassed being on Medicaid, I thought I would be.. but after a while I was like, wow! I'm glad that they have these sort of services to people who don't make much money!! Plus if you apply now you can get yourself covered by Medicaid and you won't have to pay anything for your labor & delivery! Mine cost $18,000 w/ an epidural, if I would've gone through my insurance (through my dads work) I would've had to pay around $500, but since I had Medicaid I didn't have to pay for anything! It's so worth it :) :)

I never even thought to use his insurance as secondary insurance! That is a great idea. Lol shows how much I know and how prepared I am lol. I am deffintally going to talk to my parents asap about that!

Thankfully I am on both of my parents insurance and I am covered for everything as far as I know, but my parents will pay for anything I am not covered for so I am not worried about that part I am just worried about the baby. I am covered with parents until im 19 and after that I stay covered as long as I am a full time student, which I will be by then.
