I feed Daisy on demand obviously, usually every 4ish hours, I think over the course of 24 hours she takes around 32oz. She'll be 4 weeks old on Monday, and last Friday weighed 10lbs 13oz.. Am I feeding her too much? Someone told me that you should go by their weight and what it says on the formula tin, and she's way over that..
But surely if she doesn't want/need it, she won't take it?

Don't look at the tin! :)

In the first few months my LO took way more than it said for his weight. Just go off how hungry your LO is, they won't over eat. My LO took 8oz from 3 months and he still has this now as their growth slows down as they get older they need proportionally less.

No don't look at the tin!! My LO is only now starting to go by what it says on the tin. For the first few months he was way over and putting on just the right amount of weight. If it's too much milk they'll just poset it up again anyway!

il repeat what the others have said and dont look at the tin :) ive told mark this as he was questioning the amount harrison had. you cant over feed a baby and if they are a little greedy and cant take it they will spit it back up :) it will start to even out eventually

Thanks :D I was having a panic moment, silly people making me worry! xx

Hiya

I dont look at the tin either - ok, I have done before but Anna takes way less than is recommended and always has.

I think 32oz is a lot for a month old. Anna is 5+ months and she has never taken any more than 28oz a day - and even that was during a growth spurt. At the moment she takes about 25oz a day.

When Anna was a month old she took roughly 21oz a day.

I do think if Daisy is taking it then she wants it otherwise she would just stop taking the feed so dont think you have to be worrying!:flower:

What they say on the tin is just a guide hunny, I wouldnt take any notice!
When Evie was that age she was a big eater, taking around 28oz a day. She's kinda panned out now and will still have the odd hungry day and take over 30oz plus her solid meals lol! On the tin for Evie's age it says she should be on 3 7oz bottles a day. She's on 4 8oz bottles a day  AND 2, sometimes 3 meals ;)
Just stick with what your doing atm, feed your LO what she wants, when she wants it. If she was having too much she'd be puking it up :)

I think at that age Brian was taking between 28-32 oz but once he reached 2 months slowed down a bit and since 2 months has stayed at 25-30oz a day
