My little boy is 2 weeks old today, he was 6lb 11oz at birth and is now 7lb 9oz. I am feeding him 3oz at a time, sometimes, like earlier he takes it all in one go, then pests for more shortly after, but never takes more than another oz before falling asleep. Other times he only takes 2oz, falls asleep then wants fed again 2 hours later. Also on the box it says to give him 4oz 6 times per day for 2 week old baby, but his weight says 3oz 6 times per day!

He is peeing, pooing, harldly crys ad is gaining weight. Should I be worried that his feeding is so irregular?? I kind of just go by him rather than by the clock. Am I doing it all wrong???

My LO is the same... she mostly takes 3oz at a time but can be hungry again in like 30 mins :/

Im not too worried, she knows whats best and im not gonna start letting her go hungry :)

Maybe mention it to your HV and see if they got any tips for getting into a regular feeding pattern

xx

Thanks Steph, I'm the same. no way 'm gonna let him go hungry either. I try everything else before feeding again ie nappy change, cuddles, winding etc but it's def hunger thats bothering him! Waiting to meet my HV but will mention it when she comes

Hi hun, at that age I wouldnt worry too much just go with him and what he wants it will sort itself out and become more or a routine as he gets older.
Have u tried hungry baby milk that might help him go a little longer in between feeds and make him feel more full?

My mum suggested it so I got some hungry baby milk and the MW told me I shouldn't give it to him as he is too little and it will make him constipated!! I'm not too concerned at the mo, like you say I'm sure it will sort itself out, I keep forgetting he's just new and learning same as me!! lol

I was BF for two weeks then I went onto the SMA hungry baby milk and my LO was fine on it. She got constipated when I put her on normal gold top SMA so she is now on Aptimal Comfort milk.
Bear that in mind when she gets older. If she gets constipated and colicky then maybe try the comfort milk?
Yeah ur right though, their stomachs are so small and their insides are still getting used to it all.
He's putting on weight well though so ur fine! I dont think u can 'over feed' a baby, surely if their hungry u gotta feed them.

can i ask what the difference is between comfort milk and normal sma please?
as we seem to be having the same prob.

So I swithced Stephen onto cow and gate hugry baby milk and he seems much more content. He isn't constipated or sicky with it either, sleeping much better and for longer through the night and not demanding feeds so regularly.
