I know it seems weird, at 32 weeks pregnant, trying to find a new job, but at the moment I work in care, doing three 12 hour shifts a week, earning about 10k a year, and I am the sole earner atm. I honestly cant imagine myself doing the job while I have a young child at home.

So Ive been looking elsewhere, and there seem to be a lot of travel agents jobs here, I know its not related in anyway, but the wage is twice as much, plus commision, and is mon-fri 9-5, which would leave me my evenings to be with my family. Im rewriting my CV at the moment, because I wanted to try and apply for some, and see what they say, whether they want me to have more qualifcations, or experience etc before I can have a job.

I figured if they say I need to gain an NVQ or something similar, it would give me fair notice now to start working towards it, Do you guys think im nuts?!

Not nuts at all, I think it's a good thing! Especially as you say, you can do further training in the meantime if you need to.

Good luck

I'm applying for jobs now. I graduated as a nurse at the beginning if sept, I was going to wait till lo arrived but I was told to ho ahead as being pregnant is no reason for them not to employ u. It'll b nice to know I have a job to return to. Good luck.xx

Not at all. I was on a temporary contract that ended in July. I applied for another temporary job (1 year) in the same department, had my interview at 7 months pregnant, and not only did they offer me the job but they made it permanent :D and I can go back whenever I'm ready. I was up against two other girls who'd been working in the same department as well, so you'd be surprised, not all companies hate the pregnant! Lol

Not sure where you are but I work in travel and have done since I left school. I don't want to sound negative but it's not a great industry to get into at the mo if your in the UK? Just so many companies have gone bust in the last few years and lists of high street agent shops have closed in recent years I would say don't pay out to get yourself the qualifications but get started with a company that is willing to pay for your training and if you end up finding it's not for you at least you won't be out of pocket!

Sorry if it's maybe not what you want to hear but thought I would give an honest opinion

Im in cardiff, so wales :) Theres been a few new ones open up here, but the ones that are advertsing are the more "established" businesses. I appreciate the insight though! Was gonna see if i could get some one else to pay for the course first, but because im on a low wage atm, id get help towards it anyway :)

Definitely think you are smart in looking for a job. Dont see why you shouldnt. I looked for jobs while pregnant but I feel that here (in USA), my pregnancy hindered my chance at the job and maybe other factors. Who knows...but I am hopeful that I will find something after I have LO. I have great educational and work experience. Good luck with the job hunt!
