While I was on mat leave my boss sold his business. While on leave the new owners made a postion of supervisor, which was effectively the job i was doing before i went on leave. They didnt invite me to apply for one of the positions, so when i returned to work in november, i was doing a cashier job and not what i had been doing before.

They then got me running shifts, I have been doing this and covering the manager while on holiday since being back, still being employed as a cashier. When i asked about being promoted to supervisor was told there were no vacancies. Now 2 supervisors have left and they have said they wont promote anyone to fill their vacancies.

So I have written a complaint letter to our area manager and told him that I will no longer be doing all the extra work and taking responsibility unless they are prepared to promote me to the vacancy.

I feel bad because im letting the other girls down by not doing it but dnt see why they should pay me 76p and hour less than the other 2 suoervisors for doing the same job if not more (as they ring me at home when they have a problem).

Sorry for ranting but im fed up ad worried about upsetting my collegues

No you aren't wrong... everyone should have a job description, and if yours matches that of the other supervisors, than your salary should reflect that!

:hugs:

I agree too hon.
Ring ACAS if you have any questions 08457 47 47 47

While you were on maternity leave, you were still entitled to apply for any jobs going, and (I think it's the law), they have to tell you about them. I got the option of having the weekly vacancy bulletin sent home to me when I went on leave. So they were in the wrong by not letting you applu - I'd ring CAB.:hugs:
