So Amelia is 5 weeks old now and i finally have the time to sit down and write this.
I was 33 weeks and 6 days pregnant when my waters went suddenly at 3am in bed! My labour started this way with DS so i was used to it. I woke hubby (luckily DS was staying at my mums that night) and we headed to hospital. I was having regular contractions on the way and thought she might come before we got to hospital as my son came fast. At the hospital i was put on a monitor and my contractions slowed to 3 every hour. As nothing was overly happening and my cervix was closed i was put onto a ward and the hubby was sent home. I contracted 3-4 times an hour all day so hubby was sent home again after visiting hours.
At 8.45 i pressed the buzzer to call the midwife as i wasn't sure if my contractions were getting worse ( i was adament i just really needed to poo) She called another midwife who examined me as i was in alot of pain and had gone from contracting 3 times an hour to every 2 minutes. When i was examined she said i was 2-3cm and she thought that a hand was coming out. They called for someone to confirm this but Amelia decided she was coming either way as i started pushing. They got a wheel chair and pushed me rather fast to the delivery suite where i got onto the bed and after 2 contractions she was born. I was alone when i had her so i asked to cut the cord myself. My hubby turned up about 30 seconds after i had cut it!
The hospital hadn't actually booked me in when i had been put ont he ward so they had to sort out all the forms in the room to print off the bands for her before she could be taken to NICU. After i had delivered placenta and had a bath we were taken down to see her. It was a bit of a shock seeing her with all these wires going into her but after a week and a half she was discharged.
She was born 13/10/12 at 22.26 weighing 5lb10z.
So happy to have her home
