Hello ladies, I just found out today my AMH level is at 1.79ng/ml. Technically it is in the normal range, but the low side of the normal range and my doctor decided to refer me to a fertility specialist because of this??? Is that necessary? I'm not sure my thoughts on my current doctor. I've had 2 early miscarriages and I had asked him if he would check my progesterone levels because of this and he refused. My FSH and estradiol levels are normal which is great, but because my AMH level is on the lower side of normal he for some reason thinks I need to go see a specialist. I'm frustrated because this is very expensive and I don't know if it's necessary??? I've looked online at multiple websites regarding normal levels for AMH and here is what I've found...
Normal=Over 1.0ng/ml
Normal=1.5-4.0ng/ml
33 years of age or under=2.1ng/ml (I'm 31 and at 1.79)
33-37 years of age=1.7ng/ml
I've had my thyroid checked and it's normal as well. I've never had a child, just two early miscarriages at 5 1/2 weeks and just over 6 weeks. I haven't had an issue getting pregnant, just staying pregnant. Any advice or help would be great. I have an appointment set up with the specialist on November 25th, but trying to decide what to do. I have insurance, but I do not know if it will cover it or not. If it doesn't, this first visit will cost me $675!! Of course I will do what it takes to get pregnant with a healthy baby, but don't know if my doctor is jumping into the fertility specialist thing too soon or possibly for an unnecessary reason? I do have an appointment set up with another OB for a second opinion on my 2 mcs and see what her suggestions are. That appointment isn't until December 16th though. So I guess I don't know if I should go see the fertility specialist or wait to get a second opinion since "technically" my AMH level is in the normal range? Please help if you can. Thank you!
