So with my first son Dixon, I ended up being induced but after 24 nothing was happening. Dixon had actaully moved up under my ribs instead of down. Thus leading to the c-section. I had already had an epidural so I was taken right into the room. They did a few things poked around and made sure I couldnt feel anything...But once my dr got to my son I was in the worst pain ever. I was actually yelling out in pain. I could feel all the pushing and pulling. My husband was asked to leave the room because they were going to put me under my blood pressure was so high.

Just seconds later the dr got Dixon out and my blood pressure dropped right away. So they asked for Fred to come back in the room. I could still feel a lot of what the dr was doing. Like stiching me back up. When I was finally wheeled back into my room and the morphine kicked in I was ok.

My thing is I'm worried it will hurt just as bad the second time around. My dr already talk to me about the risk of a vaginal birth after a c-section. I told him I didnt want that, I would like to plan this one out (as long as I don't go early). Planing it out also gives me a chance to have a spinal instead of an epidural. Which I heard is a lot different when it comes to the amount of numbness.

Can anyone give me some insight to things to look into. Or maybe questions to ask my dr? I just don't want to go through the same type of pain.

Hi hun sorry to hear your experience has somewhat scared you. I had a planned c section after an emcs and it was so different and relaxed. I had a spinal which made sure I didn't feel a thing. You get chance to talk about all your concerns at the pre op and I'm sure they will put your mind at rest. Having my third csection beginning of July. Good luck x

Hi there, I just had a section on the 21st of January. I was initially induced, then baby boy flipped breach. I already had my epidural, so when we got into the OR, the anesthesiologist just injected a different anesthesia into the catheter in the epidural space in my back. It did the trick. I can't imagine having the type of pain you did. If it's a possibility that you may have the same experience this time, you CAN request to be put under completely if that eases your fears?

I also had a planned c-section after my first emergency one. Like said above it went so much more smoothly. Absolutely zero pain. But even if you try and go the natural route did the doctors say if there was a high chance this baby could do the same thing. I've never heard of that and can't imagine it happening twice. But I could be wrong. Maybe if it did happen again you could ask to be knocked right out. I know it's not the way most want to do it but I would chose that over the type of pain you had to feel.

I had an emcs with my 4 year old and had also had an epidural. I also felt what was going on after they got the baby out. When they started to pull the placenta out it actually hurt so bad that I started vomiting. I just had an elective section on 12-20-12.It was so much easier than the emergency one. With the spinal I was so numb that I didn't feel anything. I was so numb that I didn't like that feeling and asked how long I would be that numb, lol. It was a much more calmer and overall better experience. I recovered much faster than with the emergency one and was not in as much post op pain either. I would like to have at least one more child and after my last section I will not be so nervous going for another. Just try to relax. Hopefully your experience with the scheduled one will be as good as mine was :) Good luck!!
