does anyone know exactly what classes as income when they do their calculations?

ex pays up via the CSA already, thats fine.

thing is, he owns a house he doesnt live in, and he rents it out to tennants and gets the money straight into his bank account. would this also count as his income???

my mum was going to rent her house out and discovered she would have to pay tax on the payments she received as it counted as ''unearned income''

thats what made me think !!

not that im going to claim more from him btw...i get enough, just be nice to know :winkwink:

Yes he will get a form to fill in that will have a section about unearned income, if he doesn't put it in then he can get into a lot of trouble!

he has to tell them about the rent. claim it hun!! you and your children are entitled to it!!!

thanks girls, thats veeeery interesting :winkwink:

will be calling them soon to claim for new baby. may casually drop it into conversation and see what they say

its not like he has done me any favours recently :growlmad:

the sooner you tell them the better coz it will get backdated to when they find out abou the change (ie when you tell them lol)

i called them up about my ex's payrise about 3 weeks before it happened coz i knew he wouldnt tell them and i will get it fully backdated to the day it happened sice it hadnt happened when i told them ifgwim.

your children deserve alot more than he can give you!! treat yourself and your children!!!

It is income but only if he is making a profit, I think. If the rent his tenants pay him covers the mortgage (if any) on the property entirely or if he makes a loss (and has to subsidise the mortgage) it may not be considered income. But, yes, he does have to tell Inland Rev about it.

I could be way off though. xx
