Another induction question...sorry

Hi again.

I am struggling with anxiety about my upcoming induction. I think it's mainly due to my last birth being a stillbirth and although I have been lucky enough to have a smooth and healthy pregnancy, I am still worried something could go wrong at the last minute, for baby and/or for me.
I also think it's because I don't really know what to expect. I asked yesterday about timings and how long it took for different people and got some helpful replies, but now I'm wondering what is actually involved (before labour begins)

I am booked in for 11am so what will happen then?

Hi welli was induced by pessary last feb. i was kept in overnight and sat around all the following day and at 9pm that night i was given a pessary. Its a little uncomfortable as its put behind the cervix and mine was still closed. I was told i would more than likely be back in 24 hours to be put on a drip to speed it up. An hour and half later i was shaking (but felt ok) was taken to labour ward to be checked. 20 minutes later i had my first contraction. They came every 3 minutes and got closer. I had gas and air all the way through. It helped alot for the first few hours. Towards the end it was more painful for me but i was ok. At 6.32am i gave birth. Labour was about 7 hours.

Dont panic just relax and go with it a minute at a time. I sm so sorry to hear you had a still birth. This time it will be different and the hospital would keep an eye on everything. If your baby got stressed they would get them out. Good luck and try and take inevery moment as its such an amazing feeling when you have that baby in your arms. Its s few hours out of your life x x

Please don't panic, the hospital will definitely keep and eye on you and baby. I'm sorry for your loss.

I was induced with my dd on the Thursday; they kept putting pessaries in every four hours which didn't really do anything for me! They just encouraged me to walk around which I did (you can't leave hospital once they start induction) and I had some cramps which I thought were things beginning.

I got to 3cm on the Saturday and they broke my waters Saturday night about 10pm; the labour pains came thick and fast then however for me, I still didn't progress.

I got to 9cm and then went back to 6cm and on the Sunday they took me for an emergency section. Essentially baby was back to back, and a big old girl so I couldn't get her out. They said if your go down in dilation it's your body saying "no, no baby is not coming out this way".

I had dd on the Sunday a couple of minutes before lunch time.

Everyone is completely different, the lady opposite literally had her pessary in and half hour later was taken to have her baby!

It is scary for all women especially when you have suffered such a horrible loss. Its just the waiting around. The horror stories and worrying about coping. You will cope though and you just have to focus on the end result. You will soon be on the other side. Us mummys are tough. Xx
