I posted this in 2nd Tri as I'm 15 weeks but had no responses. I had some really bad abdominal pain over weekend and ended up at hospital. They couldn't book me in for scan till Tuesday. At the scan I was wincing when she went over my section scar and she told me that the placenta is covering it and that it would have to be discussed at the consultant appointment on 3rd Sept.

Anyway I've tried really hard not to google...but caved in this morning and scared myself silly. It say's that the placenta can dig to deep into where the scar is causing severe hemorrhaging at birth and another section is recommended and hysterectomy I know I shouldn't of googled but I have now and would really like to hear from anyone who has been through the same with previous pregnancy or has it now and has talked to a consultant.

hi gemlou, sorry to dissapoint you ive not had this or know anybody else with it..i can only share my c section experience with you, if it helps.i want another baby after 2 sections, and by googling its the worst thing anbody can do! i only worry myself to death! how long is it since you had a secction? is your prob that the baby has emplanted in your section scar on the uterus..ive heard of this happen? so i dont quite understand, does the baby carry on growing as normal.and the pain your experiencing the prob.as i would see it, if you have to wait until sep to see a consultant then maybe its not as bad as your thinking..hope you dont me msging.
take care :flower:

Hi and thanks for replying. My son who I had a previous section with is 15yrs old so it was a long time ago. From what I understand the baby implanted in the area where my scar is at the front and the lady who did my scan said that will be why I'm experiencing tenderness in that area.

On my notes she wrote Anterior Placenta covering cesarean section scar and that's what I typed into google. The sites I looked at said if the placenta is attached to the scar (which can happen) then it can cause real problems like hemorrhaging as the placenta wont naturally come away. Also with it being Anterior (front wall) then if I do need another section they may have to make a different incision to avoid cutting through the placenta. The baby should be fine from what I have read but it carries significant risk to the mother.

I really wish I hadn't googled  I'm just really worried now I will just have to make a list of questions for when I see my consultant. Thanks for taking the time to respond :flower:

Good luck Gemlou! I haven't had that experience but i am going to have my fourth c-section in 19 days but i have been told that I am at high risk of uterine rupture and also hemorrhaging due to my adhesions so i am feeling very very scared this time round. Just counting the days down. Feeling very scared to go under the knife this time round. xx

Thanks for the good luck wishes.

Baby321 wishing you all the best with your c section. I can understand your nervousness im sure they have every eventuality planned out just in-case. I will be thinking of you xx

oh hunni, wish i could take your worry away! i know people say dont google, but sometimes we want explanations and also to see if anybody else has had the same probs so they can share with you..but it just goes to show, when the qst 'how long after a section can i try for another baby' there really is no concrete answer especially as you say its been 15yrs since your last one.
sorry but have you mentioned how many weeks you are?
its a real shame having to go through a pregnancy worrying yourself everday.
instead of it being a pleasurable experience :nope:
please let me know how you are getting on, would be nice to see how you are progressing.
thing is every pregnancy is like a 'lucky dip' and we just never know.
i have a friend who on her 3rd preg experienced 'placental abruption' never had a section and other 2 preg were fine.thankfully both were ok.
aanyway take care

Hi notpregnant, thanks for the words of support. I'm 15wks 3days pregnant. My labour with my son had been very dramatic and long ending up with emergency section I had hoped this would be a different experience now all I want is reassurance that baby and me will be ok.

I will update on here after my consultants appointment xx

hi intrigued to see if anyone post any replies, ive just got back from an emergency scan after bleeding and have been informed like you my pregnancy (6weeks) is developing 6mm above my c-section scar so their worried incase it implants into my scar...scared stiff now :-( x

Hi carebear, hopefully I can make you feel a little better. I'm now 21 weeks and at my 20 week scan found out that my placenta has moved away from my scar a little..it's not covering it anymore! As your belly grows it can move up.

Just to be on the safe side I have booked myself a private scan at 28 weeks just to check everything is still ok.

It is scary and I was really worried like you...but it can move so fx'd it moves for you! :hugs:

hi gemlou, not spoke for a while..i get confused whose who hahaha, i speak to that many people! just read your post thats good news! how are you feeling? have you had one section already, sorry cant remember.is it looking like you will be needing a section this time, because of your placenta..anyway take care hunni :hugs:

Hi notpregnant, yes it is good news thanks :winkwink: I'm feeling Ok on the whole I get tired easily especially on college days and have had a lot of heartburn lately. I'm starting to feel some movements now although not as much as some others at my stage...that's due to where the placenta is. My LO is using it like a cushion lol.

Because my placenta is no longer covering my old c section scar I can choose section or vbac. I think I'm going to go for vbac after reading all the info from my consultant I just feel the odds are better for my LO that way and planned sections carry less risk than emergency ones. I have until my next consultant appointment at 31 weeks to decide properly.

How are you? :hugs:

*I meant I'm going for planned section not vbac...I have baby brain so bad  :dohh:
