Any comic/manga/anime/cartoon/fantasy artists out there?

I've been developing this style since I was about 13, so I guess about half of my life now that I think about it... WEIRD!

Anyway, I just figured I'd throw this out there so we could share work, tips, questions, and maybe fandoms.

They are very good I am into digital drawing, but more starting out, not been drawing the time you have. I am interested in children illustration, but I've always liked manga, I did a picture this summer of Ranma and Akane lol

Ranma ½ was one of my favorite stories! Very funny. DH calls me Ryoga because my sense of direction is awful, and I can't go anywhere without my GPS.

What tools do you use for your digital drawing? Do you have a tablet? Do you use Photoshop?

I have a super old version of Photoshop (7, older than all the CS series).

Lol, I used to love Ryoga as p-chan, DH actually bought me cuddly toy of him lol Its such a blow then never finished the series.

As for a tablet I have a cintiq 22 HD. It was my dream to own one, its lush. If you don't know what it is don't google it, you won't rest until you have one! I don't use windows so could not use photoshop. We work on linux, so all my programmes are open software (which means they are also free if you want to try some). I use MyPaint Gimp and learning now how to use Krita. I recommend you looking at the latter mentioned, as its an incredible tool for drawing from scratch

We are big fans of studio ghibli by the way, especially of Hayao Miyazaki

Haha, I know EXACTLY what a Cintiq is! DH is actually going to get me one, as we're getting a big bonus from his work! I'M SO EXCITED! I've wanted one for yeeeears, but that $2000 price tag is a bitter pill to swallow!

Right now I have a super old Wacom Graphire tablet (no screen), but I don't use it much because I can't look at the monitor while I use the tablet in my lap. I have a feeling my art output is going to go through the roof when I get my Cintiq.

I'll also need to upgrade my software. I'm looking into Manga Studio. I've used Gimp and Inkspace, but I don't like them as much as I like Photoshop.

Oh wow, that would be so cool to be able to chat about cintiqs lol Try Krita! Its supposed to be way better than gimp, which at the end of the day is an image editor the same as photoshop.

I went without buying clothes for a year to show my commitment to buying a cintiq. Which one are you getting? I recommend getting an ergotron arm for it by the way. I got back problems from using it with the stand it comes with. At first I was a bit weirded out by it, then would draw for hours on end, couldn't stop! I haven't been able to draw in the last months as my father has been very ill and I haven't been home. I am now starting a drawing to go with a song. Its from a pop group of a man that DH's works with, I will show you when its finished. To nose round a bit of my art there is a link in my signature. I used to have one of those graphire type tablets, still do, I actually got quite good at using it, but was glad to move on the cintiq. Do you like the Mike Crilley videos? He does a lot on manga!

I have actually watched a lot of his videos. I have to watch them with the sound off, because his voice is annoying to me, and he does this little clicking noise when he opens his mouth that drives me nuts. But the videos are good!

Just added you to watch, your pictures are brill, you are really perfecting the figure drawing (I plan to study that more lol). I see you also like photography, and cats! I bought a dslr, but its been a bit abandoned lately.

By the way, had a very quick peak at your journal, I am sorry for your loss I too am TTCing our #1 (and most likely our last). Its going to be hard to explain that our cintiqs are mummy's toys only isn't it? I have images of him/her drawing all over it with real paint

I have a low-end DSLR (Canon Rebel T3/1100D) and a couple of lenses. I love it. No formal training, though. I'd really love to get pictures of the stars, but we live too close to the city, and the light pollution drowns out the stars.

And I have two kitties! They're my furbabies.

Hopefully we get BFPs soon! I'm actually getting very faint positives right now, but I'm having a hard time not thinking it's leftover HCG from the last pregnancy.

It is lol, I only have one other lens, and its a telephoto one, which comes in useful. I would like a good macro as I do like close ups.

The wacom companion hybrid running on android. It means you can go anywhere and don't have to be tied to a computer! You could sit on a bus or outside (if the lighting was okay) It sounds brill. I prefer a big cintiq myself, but if I could justify having another one, this would be it

I think a bigger, stay at home,cintiq is better too. Do you like the inklings? Its not my cup of tea.
