A new topic for conversation, something fun to take our minds off things and make us pause from rampant panty checking ;)

I'm going out on a limb and saying I know I'm not the only one who owns horses. Last time I was around we had a decent threat going in First Tri about our hooved children! So now I wonder what everyone's plans are for their horses should they fall pregnant?

I personally own two horses now. One: a fantastic little blue eyed paint mare. Two: A fantastic bay Thoroughbred mare.

The paint and the TB both are scheduled to become mothers themselves most likely next year as I was planning on taking the Paint to the APHA World Show this summer. That idea, obviously, will be scratched since I can't see me showing a horse in skin tight western show wear while 4 months pregnant. Lucky me I have a working student who can exercise the girls and continue the TB mare's training. She's recently off the track but we have high hopes and plans for her since she's soooo sweet and oh my goodness can she move! She's to be put in foal to Indian Artifacts (if anyone from the Quarter Horse world is around!)

So share! I'll post photos of Sedona and Bugatti if you guys post photos of your boys and gals!

Hi

not in the 2WW just yet a few more days to go, hope you don't mind me joining in though.

I have 2 horses, both mares, my 12 year old mare is going to the stallion this year as I have a young 5yr old who I am currently working and about to enter my first dressage competition with her on the 10th of April. (she is the one in my avatar)

Having the horses certainly gives me something to keep my mind off the 2WW

i love horse riding use to do it when i was in my teen hu its great xx :)

oh it is great. Definitely keeps my mind off the 2WW and welcome to the club Ejay!!!

My paint mare is currently in show as a western pleasure horse and as a reiner. She's fantastic but like I said. She won't have to retire for the season she can be handled by my working student who just turned 16. The TB mare is a bit more of a handful and is newer to my program and recently off the track. Not that I don't trust her, it's just that I wouldn't want to be responsible for anything bad happening so she'll be on the property being worked and trained and both will be chucked in foal next season. The TB needs weight and muscle. She's still in racing form and that to me is anorexia for horses. Lots to keep my mind off things LOL!

Not in the 2ww but...

I just sold one of my geldings yesterday. I wouldn't have, but it was the ideal home and him and my other gelding will still live together. He is a coming 4yo Reg Quarter Horse... Peppy San Badger lines. Goooorgeous blue roan! He just has too much potential to sit.

My keeper is my 13 yo reg (solid bay) paint gelding. Hes precious :) Hes very well trained, adaptable to any rider, and had a career as a movie horse. Don't think I'll ever part with him!

awwwww. Wow blue roan Peppy San Badger? Must've been divine! At least you still get to see him! My paint mare's a loud sorrel/white splash/frame/sabino overo and heavily Genuine Doc bred on top and Dun Gift Wrapped/Impressive on the bottom so halter/pleasure/reining and I'm lucky she's HYPP N/N. What do you do with yours guys? Just for fun or do you show?

When I was younger I rode jumpers, my 13 yo helped me big time get some confidence back, I like to play around in reining with him, but just for fun!

I planned to do working cowhorse with the 4 yo. Hes got huge roping potential too, that and penning are what the new owner hopes to do with him. I'll see what I can find for pics.

This is last summer when they were just introduced. Jasper was almost black here, he changes color constantly from this to really blue roan!

oh wow how GORGEOUS!!!!

Sedona is my painty girl who's currently back in work after a spell. Working on getting those tootsies back in shape. Former farrier whacked off her heels and just let her hooves flare. Thank goodness she has super thick soles.

Will get you a body shot of Bugatti soon as we're working on weight/muscle gain since she's in racing form (anorexia for horses I swear!) and is new off the track since Jan.

Lovely :) I love TB's, when I was jumping we took lots off the track and retrained them.

The paint is beautiful, its hard to find a farrier you can trust, he definitely let her flare out. I'm a farrier by trade, had to give it up long ago cause if a bad back. Then I got a neck injury in a car accident and can't even do my own now, thankfully I have someone who does a good job.

yeah they have such an aptitude for jumping. It's crazy how incredible they are. I picked her up hoping to breed some decent HUS horses from her and I have a friend with a young Hano stallion. Her size and conformation will go nice with his so a sporthorse baby isn't a bad thing. Especially with her being Danzig bred.

The paint's feet are a nightmare but we're working long and hard on correcting it. I'm not pushing her too hard. She's not lame, but oh lordy if I showed you the horizontal split in her front right heel you'd keel over and want to strangle the farrier who did this to her! Lucky me I have a barefoot farrier specialist who's getting her feet back in shape and she's blessed with naturally thick soles and hoof wall so there's no separation or signs of lamenitis.
