Hi Ladies. Due first baby very soon and think I have decided to FF baby. (Getting very fed up with nct/midwifes etc pushing the breast feeding so any advice/tips appreciated!)
Feel happier inside about the idea of not breast feeding

Just wondering if there are any good books re FF new born babies.. need to know things like how much baby will drink and how often etc.

Leaving it a bit late I know but I was brain washed for the whole time by breast feeding info from every direction!

xx :flower:

WHat to expect the 1st year has a section ;)

Oh and here (US) we have LOTS of free sample offers that come with all kinds of good info (boooklets, DVD's) about amounts, how to's etc. I got a package from Enfamil and Similac with about $200+ bucks worth of free formula!!! Plus tons of coupons. Some for $10 - $15 off. We use only 2 oz per day (add vitamins to it at night for LO) so that will last us practically forever!

I bet there is a similar offer somewhere across the pond. Try Googling "Free samples, formula" and see what offers come up.

Well done for deciding now. I know exactly what you mean about being brainwashed...

I couldn't find anything particularly helpful, I'm afraid. There's a 1001 books for breastfeeding but nothing if that's not what you're going to do.

Be prepared when you go into labour to have the bottles and formula available. Particularly if you stay in hospital overnight.

Oh and in the UK, you don't get coupons for money off or free samples. It's possible that where you give birth will have formula available for you, but mine didn't.

We were given a breast feeding booklet at the NHS antenatal class. When I was next at my GP I saw one on the shelf for formula feeding.

It is a bright yellow booklet called 'guide to bottle feeding' - it has a great step-by-step guide in it for preparing formula. I know there are guides on the packs of powder but I found the booklet useful. It is created by the NHS and part of their Start For Life stuff.

As the PP said, check if your hospital provide formula. Mine had in the main 3 and you just asked when you needed it.

I have this. Its a pretty good book. It refers to brands and terminology for both the UK and the US (mainly UK I think from what I remember, havnt read it on a while :) ). xxx
