Any one else been told this?

Hello!

I've got to have an HSG next cycle and the information I've been given by the hospital says it's not safe for us to TTC during the cycle I have it done & that we musn't have any unprotected sex during that cycle.

However, one of the other lovely ladies on here said her hospital didn't mention that at all & someone else got her bfp in the cycle she had her HSG. I just wondered if anyone else had been told not to ttc or if I should question the hospital when I go?

It should be done as early after your menses as possible. Definitely before ovulation. If you're to do it after O, because you can't get appointment soon enough, then indeed you should use protection. I think the main concern is that you might have a fertilized egg traveling though one of the tubes and it might get washed out. I don't know if there's any risk of it implanting in the abdominal cavity, it's VERY rare, but they wanna be cautious.

Bottom line - no sex before HSG

As Soli said it's no unprotected sex between CD1 and the day of the HSG- after HSG go for it! The HSG is an X-ray so they can't risk you being pregnant as it would be catastrophic for the egg!

I have HSG today and should OV' this weekend, does tht mean can TTC again this month?? hope so!

My Dr actually told me to go home and BD right after mine! It didn't work, but we sure tried like someone else said, its only bad if your HSG is after ovulation otherwise you should be good to go - some even think it helps boost your fertility for a few months.

I don't remember any mention of anything about TTC in relation to my HSG. I know they required I have my HSG within a certain time period after my cycle started, so maybe that was their way of ensuring there wouldn't be a problem? The nurse that assisted with the test did mention to me that lots of people get a BFP the same month that they have the test done, so it kind of seemed like she was encouraging it.

My doc said it was okay to BD. We did and got our bfp, but it wasn't viable. My grandmother swears it was the dye they used but I think it was just a fluke. Your chances are super high right after HSG so I say go for it!

Well, you either listen to what we explain here or ask THEM to explain it or just do it as it says in the letter.
