Any other babies born hypoglycemic? (low blood sugar)

My LO was born and within after birth, she was admitted to special care with a blood sugar of 1.1.

It was so low she didn't have the energy to move and her breathing was so shallow. I understand that hypoglycemia can cause brain injury in some cases.

Did anyone else's LO have low blood sugar? How are they doing?

Both my babies were born with Polycythemia(too many red blood cells),my son was born with hypoglycemia and jaundice as well.He is 4 now,but I can try to answer any questions.xx

My son was born with hypoglycaemia he was in high dependency for 2 days due to this, he is 2 next month and is a very bright boy who can count, ask and answer questions. Low blood sugars can cause brain damage but normally it is after being in a coma due to the sugars. Try not to worry x

My baby had blood sugar of 0.5, due to the blood pressure tablets I was on (which I wasn't aware could cause it). She did brilliantly in special care & was fine almost 12 hours later. She was monitored over a few days and remained stable before being released. Best of luck to you xx

My DD had super low sugars at birth and did stop breathing. She also managed to catch a secondary infection and then develop jaundice. 6 days later we were released. Now she is 11 months, walking, babbling and signing up a storm. It took two days for her sugar level to stabilize so that we could stop pricking her heel before every feed.

Mine was born with low sugar and low body temperatures. ..mainly because of her low birth weight. I had to keep changing her diaper so she would wake up every two hours to breastfeed. She did lose weight but gain it back but i managed to bring up her blood sugar lever and body temperatures.

Keep feeding your child..it is the best way.

she is 19 months old. And seem bright. Always knows what to do and understands is. And she is babbling and talking some as well. No delays.
