I've just started doing the couch 2 5k as i desperately need to lose weight and get fit.
Basically since school i've got a burning sensation in my shins and ankles whenever i run. Previous personal trainers and ones at the gym just told me to run through the pain and it would get easier. Anyway i mentioned this last night to the running coach and he said that it sounded like shin splints and that i should stop running as i could do some serious damage. I'm gutted, i was just starting to enjoy it.
Anyone any advice? Is there a way around this? Better shoes, technique etc? I've an appointment with the GP tomorrow as the coach said physio may help. The problem is, it's only a 9 week course and no doubt it would be months before physio.
TIA
