Hi Ladies

I had it last pregnancy and was prescribed Gaviscon but it never really did me much good.

This pregnancy is it three times as bad. I constantly have acid in my throat/chest and it keeps me up all night.

Last night I was up throwing up because swallowing the acid back down way making me so ill :(

Anyone else suffering or have any suggestions?

Go to the doctor they will give you something like omeprazole.
Xx

I was talking to a midwife friend yesterday and she's told me to try mylanta but take it during the day as well to try to prevent the build up at night

I spoke to the doctor who just said they'd prescribe me gaviscon even though I've explained it doesn't work. May have to speak to a different one. Thanks.

oddly enough crying helps mine.. no idea why, or if it does but always calms down after.

mine gets very bad which upsets me then i cry about it.

I have been prescribed liquid Ranatadine (spelling?), or Zyrtec, for my pregnancy-induced heartburn, and I'd say it works. You can get OTC Zyrtec in pill-form that is also safe to use in pregnancy, but I can't testify to it's effectiveness next to the prescription liquid-form.

The upside to all of the awful heartburn, is that your baby may come out with a head full of hair! I know my daughter sure did! The same hormones that create your issues with heartburn, are also the ones that help your LO grow his/her hair, apparently!

I had quite a lot with my son and he was pretty much bald

But I've got tonnes more this time so fingers crossed this lil lady comes out with a mop of hair :)

Thanks for the advice ladies. Means a lot.

Also, I get you on the crying I was so tired last night and crying cos I couldn't stop throwing up!
