Im planning on breastfeeding, but also would like to get some milk in just in case it doesnt go to plan.
Im Lactose intolerent and allergic to all Dairy products, as was my Mum, Im worried I might pass this on to my little girl, so i'm looking into the Soya Formulas for if they are needed.

I have found one by SMA but no others yet, does anyone have experience of Soya Formulas? or any particular brand to recommend?

Any advice would be grateful :) xx

I use Wysoy, which is the one by SMA, Caitlyn's been fantastic on it. No more sickness etc and she's a lot happier on it :)

Good luck! :)

What are the main signs of them being allergic at an early age hun? xx

I use SMA Wysoy, have done since birth, Freya has always been great on it.

Most of my family are dairy intolerant, as am I. I was planning on breastfeeding but couldn't in the end so preferred to have Freya on a soya formula straight away. She has never been on cows milk formula so I don't know if she is intolerant or not. The downside of this is as I refuse to put on her on cows milk to see if she tolerates it or not I cannot get Wysoy on prescription as I know many do, and it's expensive! I don't see any benefits in cows milk though so won't be going there.

The signs tend to start showing after about 3 weeks ish, and are things like greenish runny poos, colic, vomiting, not drinking much milk etc.

We are using cow and Gate infasoy and its very good but my LO only has it on her weetabix and a cup before bedtimes coz she was B/F for 10 months before going on this:thumbup:

Thanks Ladies :) I dont purposelly want to make her ill by putting her on normal formula but then again dont want to give her the soy one if she doesnt need it. So confusing isnt it! lol x

Caitlyn didn't really show many signs that led the HV's to believe she was intolerant...took them 5 months to diagonise it :dohh: Neither me or Liam are intolerant. My sister is and his dad is though.

She always had green poo's. She was sick after EVERY feed...she was better on the comfort milk but was still sick. She began to refuse milk and her intake went down from 40oz to 18oz at best and she was a generally screamy, unhappy baby. I'm hoping to BF my next and will go dairy free in my own diet. If I can't I will be putting them straight onto Wysoy. Do what feels best for you :hugs2:

Same here, I am hoping beyond anything to be able to BF my next baby, but if I am in the same situation as this time and I can't, I will be using Wysoy from the start. Can't go wrong then really. :)

That's my reasoning too Kirsten  I am not listening to my MW and HV telling me to wean them etc :dohh:
