My lo is almost 3 weeks old and has suffered from colic, I've switched to the dr brown air vented bottles and she seems a bit better for it but she's still really windy and farts a lot, she's currently bottle fed on Cow and gate and was considering switching to aptimil. Has anyone done this and found it helpful?

Thanks in advanced!

we were same as you- we moved to doctor brown;s bottles as well. We went from sma to cow and gate and it made loads of difference - didn;t go away entirely but was better than he had been - he was really very windy and crying after each feed etc. I would say give it a go - different milk suits different babies -avoid sMA though

We switched from SMA to Aptamil and noticed a huge difference, that paired with anti colic bottles really helped us x

hello,

Don't quote me but from what i've heard, cow and gate and aptamil are ade by the same factory - check the ingredients. I recently changed my 5 weeks old baby's milk to Hipp Organic. She was on aptamil and was really struggling with pain, wind, etc. She is so much better now on Hipp...I called Hipp to ask why and although most formulas have to be made under the same guidelines, Hipp don't put as much prebiotic enzymes in their milk - Aptamil have a slightly higher content of this which is what causes the wind.

Also, for colic, have you heard of Colief? It's meant to help loads.

Hope this helps!

i changed to the colic/gas version took about 2 weeks to see a difference. we also tried dr brown no difference, and she ended hating them.

changed from cow and gate to hipp organic and LO has NO WIND anymore :) before that he suffered lots. dont know if its his age or the formula though! x

I use sma without a problen but my friend had to swap from sma to aptimal

My LO had colic and when he was 6 weeks I switched from SMA to C&G Comfort and we saw an immediate difference in LO, he was a much happier baby from that very first bottle.

My LO was very constipated on SMA.. Changed him to Aptamil like the HV suggested.. Very colicky and constipated! Changed him to Cow and Gate Comfort... His colic went away (YAY) and hes much more regular. x

We started on SMA but bubzy just didn't agree with it, she was so windy and she'd be sick quite a bit on it, switched to aptamil and she's much happier!

I think the aptamil is a little lighter, so it settles better with her. All you can do is trail and error! If nothing seems to work then ask your doctor :flower:

I used Aptimil but Caleb was really not good with it. I tried Infacol, Gripe Water and Baby Gaviscon, but hated using so many things to try to help, so switched to Aptimil Comfort, I still use infacol before each bottle nut it has helped I would say, however, he is still very windy and in doscomfort when trying to pass, definately not as much. But considering trying a different brand just to see, I hate messing about with his formula though, but if i get one that helps.
So I may try Cow and Gate Comfort and Hipp Organic and see what happens. Although going to Dr on Wed so going to ask him. My friend was put on prescription formula (Hypoallergenic) but can only get that on prescription.
Thats only if there appears to be any issues with dogesting lactose. My Lo comes out in a rash after his bottles so want to get that checked. Think just trial and error, but so hard to know what is best as you dont want to change the milk and make bubbs worse.. Good luck in finding one that works xx

SMA made my than newborn miserable, she was crying uncontrollable, was windy and gassy and hungry all the time.

I did some research (google) and decided to change to Aptimil hungry milk when she was about 3 weeks and all the problems were gone overnight, it worked wonders!

My best friend's baby is suffering from colic and she couldnt try the hungry milk as they dont have it where we come from, but she swears by the MaM bottles. https://www.mamonlineshop.com/

I switched Lo's formula but didnt seem to make a difference, I tried everything for colic, then I was recommended Colief, its pricey but I was at my wits end seeing my poor baby in pain. It was an absolute life saver!! You add it to the milk and it breaks down the lastose making it easy for babies to digest. Its like I have a new baby, she is so happy and smiley now and sleeps right through the night.
