Hi, I was just wondering if many of you had names picked out for your babies and then changed your mind when you saw them???

My daughter is 13 now, and at the time, for a girl I had Jasmine picked out, I just loved it. When the midwife put her into my arms for the first time she asked what she was going to be called and from nowhere I said Charlotte, it was a name that had never been discussed but as soon as I saw her that was it, she was a Charlotte, she really suits it too although now she says she wished I had called her Jasmine!!!
:haha::haha::haha:

If you had called her Jasmine she would've wanted to be called Charlotte

And as for changing names, I had 2 picked out but was very set on Caitlyn. It fit her as soon as I saw her x

My dd was called Ella for the first 24 hours and we both decided it really didnt fit and we just couldnt call her it. We changed it to Isabelle and instantly felt right.

My cousin had her names chosen for her baby but then when he was born she changed her mind! I am going to have 2 for girl and 2 for boy then decide which one suits them best

All the way through my pregnancy with my second daughter (who's now 10) she was going to be called Taylor. then when she was born it just didnt suit her at all. After a week without a name we came up with Sofia, it suited her perfectly. I think we will keep a couple of options this time around incase one of the names doesnt suit him/her xxx

Nope with my 1st he was josh from about 12wks of pregnancy i just knew he was a boy & although i had girls names in mind they didn't feel right, So he was josh all the way through so by time he was born it was just like i was waiting to meet " josh ", everybody had been calling him josh, friends, family & midwives. It just felt right :)
I don't regret it one bit :)

With this one i'm kinda decided on Jaxon but who knows what'll happen when i've had him :)

My youngest niece was 3 days old before they chose her name of Lilly :)

I had exactly the same situation, my daughter (also 13, how wierd!!) was going to be Abigail or Abbie for short, the mw handed her to me asked for a name and my husband said Abbie at the same moment I said Hannah, I won, hehehe!

I was called Samantha for a week, until my Dad decided it didn't suit me :dohh:

same with my cousin, he was called Jonathan for a week then changed to Ross lol he's defo not a Jonathan ! x

that happened to me too, I was Kim for a week and then got changed to Emma

my name changed once I was born but only because my mom was told I was a boy  and didnt even have a name picked out for a girl so thanks to my daddy I am Candice :) so happy to be a girl because I would be Terrance (sp?) :haha: and originally Brandon Todd until my ex aunt stole it 22 days before I was born for her son (my cousin) :growlmad: which had my mom upset until I was born a girl :) which she had hoped for all along!

This obviously hasn't happened to me yet but my mum's best friend had a baby girl and called her Madison, all the "Congratulations It's a Girl" cards said "Welcome baby Madison" etc, and about a week later she and her OH decided it just didn't suit her and ended up calling her Ellie!

We can't pick a name as such as we don't know if we're having a boy or a girl but the idea is that nearer the time we'll pick out our fave 2 boys names from our list and our fave 2 girls names and then see what he/she looks like. Although if i am completely honest i already know which my faves are, and if LO were to suddenly make an appearance i'm pretty sure i know which we'd pick!

My friend called her son a name, then changed it a week later. It was a little surprising, and all his birth cards etc still say the first name, im sure he even got a teddy with his name on.

Its amazing how often names get changed - my work colleague had a daughter and sent us all an email welcoming "Maria", and then a few weeks alter when he was back at work I asked how Maria was doing and he said that they couldnt get used to maria and had changed her name to Sophie.

I bet that was embarrassing! I did that once to a mate. She told me her little boy would be called Harvey-Lee when he was born, I saw her after he was born and asked how Harvey was and she went 'oh his name is Fletcher' and my face went redder than a beetroot!

We changed the shortened version, we were always going to shorten her name to Lara, we had chosen that as the actual name at first but I liked the full version better. Then when she was born it just didn't gel with me and I felt Lissa sounded and suited better. One member of the family still call her Lara which drives me crazy.

My daughter was called Susannah for about 10 days after she was born, but I just couldnt bare to call her that, she didnt suit it, but my ex was set on it.. then one day, I just decided Jessica-Rose and it suits her down to a T!! Its just a shame that all the "congratulations" cards we've got, all say congratulations on the birth of Susannah!

Its funny though, as I named my son Joseph right after my 20 week scan, and its always suited him.. Is it me, or is it just sooooooo much harder with girls? we still havent settled on a name for this one yet and we've known she's a girl for nearly 17 weeks!!

When I was pg with daughter (now almost 12!) I didn't know what sex the baby was. I picked out Reece Joel for a boy and Katie Bethany for a girl but when she was born we immediatley changed it to Kayleigh cos we thought Katie sounded too similar to her grans name (kitty) and they had same sirname. Didn't regret the change, although turns out it didn't really matter that there names were similar sounding cos me and her dad split up when she was 2 and she doesn't really have anything to do with her gran anymore!
My oldest son was Ellis right from the 20week scan when we found out he was a boy and never changed our minds and have never ever regreted it-it really suits him! This time, same has happened, found out were having another boy,at 16weeks and named him Ethan, this time there was abit of a debate between 2 names but we decided on Ethan and so far haven't looked back, we know the name suits him too as we have seen what he looks like when we had 4d scan, so doubt very much we will change it when he's born.
