I am 37 and expecting my 4th. Others are 17, 11, and 5 years old. All uncomplicated vaginal births. I'm a former NICU nurse, so I have always feared those worst scenarios, but I really want to trust that it will be okay. I wonder if my AMA (advanced maternal age) will affect my risk for home birth? My genetic testing was excellent with a decreased risk of 1 in 3000. I'd like to know what other mamas think about this.

Thanks!

Its true age does increase risk a little but then you have already had three uncomplicated births so that is on your side. 37 is not that old. If you are relatively healthy and dont have any other complications I say go for it.

I am 44 and on baby number 4 my other children are 22, 19 and 14. (all normal vaginal deliveries (14 year old was a HB)
I am having a home birth this time. The midwifes have been great and said go for it. I didn't have genetic screaning, NT or anything like that. My BP is low, by BMI is low, my health and mental state are good. The consultant has requested a meeting and although I don't have to go, I am cross that they can only be concerned because of my ae and not because of my health so I am going to meet with them at the end of August. I shall however stick to my guns. HB is the best thing I ever did!!

I am also gonna go for a home birth all being well
I am 44 and due in dec.
I have done the blood tests and nt scan
Even I think they scarede more.
My youngest is 5 and I did do any tests with
Her and she is perfect
