So, today I got told that I officially have Pre-Eclampsia and I was put on bed rest until Monday morning @ 8:45am when I have to be in the doctor's office where we will go over the blood work that has not come back yet (only BP and my 24 hour urine tests are in but high) and make plans for what we are going to do.

At the moment, I think (per what my doctor said on Wednesday) I have two options:

- Transfer to a new doctor here in town and deliver now OR
- Be on bed rest until 27 weeks and deliver then with my current doctor at my hospital of choice.

Anyone currently have PE? How are you being treated for it? How high is your BP?

well I pretty much have it now...I have been on BP meds the whole pregnancy but now they arent working as well so they have been doubled and my BP is still spiking..last night it was 170/107 and thats on 500mg of aldomet(BP meds) so I dont know what is going to happen I go talk to my Dr thursday and well my DH has pretty much put me on bedrest because my BP is good when Im sitting/laying down they are monitoring me very closly and doing bloodwork to see how my liver is etc. I will know more next week...why wont your Dr deliver sooner than 37 weeks? my Dr says she wont deliver before 39 weeks so we are considering getting a second opinion especially if my BP doesnt go down...how high is your BP running? ...with my son my BP ran around 140s/90s for over 2 months (I was on bedrest) and I delivered at 36 weeks...

On Wed my resting BP was 144/108 and apparently my pulse was really fast too.

The reason my doctor will not deliver me earlier is that he has been my doctor since I lived in a small town an hour north of here and the hospital there is very small and only has a level one nursery with no neonatal nurses or anything so if you are considered higher risk, they do not want you to deliver there just in case. Now I live in Anchorage where we have two really good neonatal hospitals but my OB does not have privileges at them. Boooo... Hence the wait.

However, if he feels he needs to, he WILL transfer me to a closer hospital. The plus is that both are with in 3 miles of my new house. The minus is I have to go to a new doc. (My current doctor was my infertility doctor as well so we have known him for about 2 years now.)

At this point, I just want to feel better. I will do whatever they say just to feel better. Ugh! I out some dishes in the dishwasher a few minutes ago and now I am dizzy and nauseated. BLEH!

How is your BP when you are not pregnant? I am normal right around 120/80 if not slightly lower so this is pretty new for me.

I am so sorry that you are having a rough go at it. That sucks! At least we are both almost at the end, right? :hugs:

I had the PE with my son and after delivering him my BP never went down so I have been on meds for it since then and thats the reason for me being on them throughout the pregnancy but now the meds arent really helping enough so Im hoping my Dr decides to deliver around 36-37 weeks...be glad your not on the meds for it they keep me feeling like a Zombie and all I wanna do is sleep I hate them and now they have doubled them so today I am feeling extra horrible...your BP is close to what mine was running with my son it was always taken while resting as I wasnt allowed to get up unless I was going to the bathroom... I hate your feeling like crap too but we are about to the end...I just keep thinking only 2 weeks and he will be full term so can be delivered at anytime :) 2 weeks seems forever though with the way I am feeling... that suck on your Dr situation but at least he will deliver at 37 weeks you really dont have much longer to get there I still cant figure out why my Dr says I have to be 39 weeks to me thats crazy with my problems...

:hugs: just a couple of weeks and we will have our lil ones in our arms and we wont even think of how misrable we were :)

I had PE with my daughter but it was mild and only got to the point of hospitilization when i was 39 weeks anyways so although I was induced it wasn't too early.

Wishing you all the best for both you and baby Jack

i had PE at 39weeks and been induced due to it so i dont know what they do if u have PE early - sorry couldn't be more of a help but wish u best of luck for a safe arrival of ur baby Jack :)

i was admitted to hospital at 27 weeks, and diagnosed with severe PET at 28 weeks. my little boy was delivered at 30 weeks.

my blood pressure ranged between 140-180/90-120. i had lots of protein in my urine too, 2270mg over 24 hours when i was admitted, which increased to over 5000mg the week baby arrived.

as to treatment, i was just monitored closely. i had 4 hourly obs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, O2 sats, and listening in to the baby's heart rate. i had to take blood pressure meds every 4 hours, and had injections of fragmin daily to reduce the risk of blood clots. i had urine tests every morning, and blood tests every other day. i had CTGs twice each day - either until criteria was met, or for 1 hour. i had a few growth scans, and doppler scans to show blood flow to the placenta every other day. i also had steroid injections to mature the baby's lungs. it was really close monitoring to try to continue the pregnancy for as long as possible. so one morning the CTG showed the baby's heart rate was slowed, so i had an emergency c-section that afternoon. my gorgeous little boy weighed in at 3lbs 4. :)

i think they worry less in later pregnancy, as it is less risk in delivering the baby. i'm suprised you are on bed rest though, as my consultant said she would not recommend bed rest due to the risk of blood clots. might be worth asking your doctor that?
