Anyone done IUI

Hey ladies, I have my apt with the fertility specialist in nov. So I have been reading lots on what to expect and my treatment options, based on why we are not getting preggers ect. I was just wondering if anyone had been thru IUI as it seems most likely to me that that will be the first step.( unless i can just use the drugs to increase egg development ect) any help or info would be amazingly helpful. thanks so much

I've done 8 IUI cycles. I've used both clomid and femara. We've never done injectables, just oral pills.

hi there. i had my first iui with clomid and hcg trigger shot and i am currently nearing the end of my tww. i can do my best to help with any questions you may have. if this cycle doesn't give me my bfp, i plan to try 2 more rounds.

I was just reading from the fertility clinic I will be going to and they have in the costs a set of injections. I was hoping that would be further down the line. what shoud I expect? I know my first apt is an U/S and to review the tests my dr has already done. I am assuming my dh,and i will have to do more tests b4 they put me on anything. so far the tests i had came back normal. and dh's count was fine just a lower amount of sample. but should't affect us getting preggers( says the dr) I had a m/c with my ex: 7 years ago. then my hubby and I have a beautiful surprise son. and then we had a m/c in march and in 26 months thats all we have had....1 m/c...really hoping they say we can have more kids and hope its pretty easy go of it...fingers crossed..... whats your experience been so far?

I have done 11 IUI's total now. All IUIs have been injections followed by progesterone suppliments. It took 6 total to get pregnant with baby #2. We currently have done 5 while trying to conceive #3. We actually just did our latest one today!

i though they only liked to do 3 iui's before moving on? so to me it kinda seems like it depends on the dr. and your course of treatment. does that sound right?

It does depend. For us, we aren't interested in IVF, so there really is nothing to move on to.

Studies have shown that if a person is going to get pregnant from IUI, it is most likely in the first 3 IUIs, so I think that's why they try to move on after that. Obviously, there's variation. I conceived on my fourth and another poster conceived on her sixth.

IUI is either with oral meds or injectables or a combination. Your doctor can go over those with you and discuss advantages versus disadvantages of both. We are unexplained, I have no ovulation issues, so we avoided the injectables.
