Hi there, I was given a tip by my midwife (probably off the record!) that newborn babies dont mind if they have warm or cold milk as long as you dont change it once you have picked. Sooooo - I started off giving Luke cold milk - made by filling the bottles with slightly cooled boiled water (stored in the fridge) with powder just before each feed - or if im super lazy I make up 2 or 3 for the night and keep in the fridge - then only need to grab them for night feeds. Anyone else heard of this or doing this - Its made life much easier than warming bottles and LO has no time to cry for food if he wakes hungry. X

Our LO takes her bottles at room temperature. We put boiled water into sterilised bottles and let it cool then keep them in a cupboard. Then it's just a case of adding the formula and we're off

To be honest, I've never heard of that before but it is rather interesting!

For Christian, we have the milk at room temperature or sometimes a little warmer (dependant on the warming method when we've taken the milk out of the fridge). He seems to be fine with it but if it is too cold, he'll have issues.

i always fed mine at room temp, that way i was able to take a carton upstairs for the nightime feed lol

Alex gets his at room temp but when he was in hospital they would give him it straight from the fridge both oral and down his NG tube

Imi has hers at room temp but i do often make the bedtime bottle a bit warmer :)

Aided honey - isn't it weird how things differ depending on where we live. Our SCBU were very insistent that Imis milk (oral and tube) must be at room temp to make it easier for her to digest :)

I feed Chloe hers either at room temperature or from the fridge. I usually get it out the fridge shortly before a feed, 5 mins or so before to warm up a little as usually straight from the fridge seems to give her more wind.

Hi,
Evan's bottles are at room temperature, they sit out once filled with the boiling water. If I need an emergency ready-made carton from the fridge, I warm the bottle up a bit.
In hospital he was given bottles at room temperature, so I didn't want to change what he was used to. Also, I thought that feeding when out and about would be easier this way.:flower:
Jx

oh, i never kept the cartons in the fridge, they were always in the cupboard so ready to use

Earls are room temperature most of the time (or close to it - I warm pre-made bottles to 'cool' rather than body temp) but I make his bedtime bottle warm and he gobbles it lol. He has never refused a bottle though apart from once it was too cold as I had left his bottle in the bathroom overnight (water to add formula too) and it was colder than the fridge! Even I wouldn't have drunk that though....would give me a tummy ache lol

Ruby doesn't care. I use cartons, so if it's a new one out of the cupboard, I give it as-is, but if an opened one from the fridge, then I warm it to take the chill off it. Bed time / dreamfeeds are always slightly warm though.

Yup its crazy........It also varied from nurse to nurse as well lol

With Landon I always gave it warm, but I didn't make in advance and here you don't have to boil water so I would just run the water until it got warm and then filled the bottle, added formula and was done

I do room temp and dont boil the water either I use regular bottled water :) I would do what momof3co does but we have well water and I dont like the taste of it so we always use bottled :)

luisa gets a bad tummy wen ever she has a cold (from the fridge bottle)

now she has cartons so if its a new carton its room temp, if its open and in the fridge i nuk it for 30secs to take the chill off xx

I believe they prefer warm! If I were starving and didn't have a choice I'd take what I could get... But my daughter has expressed with baby words that she likes them hot (very warm)...so that's how I make them. I know it's the easy and lazy way out not to rewarm the water but it would be like you drinking luke warm coffee or tea...good if you need it but definitely not the best.

the actual recommendations say that formula should be served lukewarm, that is when you test it on your wrist it sould feel neither hot nor cold - therefore pretty much room temp - i opened a carton and fed it to mine without warming it and in no way whatsoever did i use this method for easy/lazy purposes - the only reason i did it was the fact that the milk was at the recommened temp

Freya will have it straight from the fridge or room temp - she won't drink it warm. Guess it's just what she's used to  We make feeds in advance and keep them in the fridge ready to use.

I put powder into filled bottles of water that are kept at room temp. Did this for the boys too, far easier.

mommy2baby, milk is nothing like tea, and how is it lazy? its lazy to use disposable nappies, buy any sort of baby food, use a washing machine in that case. Me, I do not have time to mess about with something my baby doesn't bother about.

Hoe dare you call people lazy for not doing as you do.
