I have. It doesnt worry me as i know a third of the population are carriers and i am a nurse so i dont get scared by all the mumbo jumbo on the news about it.

If anyone has what was the protocol? Body wash and nose ointment? Own room? Further tests is positive?

I just had a swab taken from my nose. Turns out I wasn't a carrier so nothing further was done. All the best for the birth, can see you don't have long to go now! My section was a very calm experience, one which I will never forget. I've noticed your section is for the same reason mine was for xx

Aw thanks hun:thumbup: You had a 3rd degree tear too?

The hospital rang me yesterday to say it was positive. The midwife moaned about it as it is a new protocol at the hospital and the research shows there is no need for it to be done. I have looked at the med journals and it does seem to be a waste of everyone's time.

I have to get a body wash and nose gel today and then they test next week after 5 days of the stuff. If still positive i get my c section at the end of the day instead of my alloted 10am time.

And then i get my own room:thumbup:

i had to swab my nose throat and perineum! havent heard back yet so hope its clear as c sec is booked for tuesday! x

Perineum? you poor mite! No dignity in pregnancy i say!

Bit late for them to do it then hey?

Hopefully it will be negative hun anyway-and you wont need to stick cream up your nose:flower:

I'm assuming that's the "q-tip in the bum"? *giggle* ...my friend was teasing me with that because I'm so shy about that type of stuff...
I never had one and I had an elective CS planned.

im a nurse to i had to swap my nose/ throat and groin and all were negative x

So i had a positive result from a nose swab, negative from axilla. Then had to wash with an antimicrobial wash everyday and put a cream in my nose 4 times a day, for 5 days.

Swabbed two days after finishing the 5 day course.

Swab was negative.

If positive my c section would have been done at the end of the theatre list and i would have had my own room.

Reason why more hospitals are doing iit is because a third of us are carriers. But there has been an increase in MRSA infections in C Section wounds. Either transfered from own skin or from another patient via an HCP.
