Hi Ladies

I told my boss and resource manager last week about the pregnancy, and that my doctor has told me to take things easy for the next 6 weeks until I'm out of the first tri given my miscarraige history. My job can involve a lot of travel and customer meetings - anyway after a conversation with the resource manager last week he's asked me to attend a meeting that would be either a 6 hour round trip in the car, or a commute through London on the train! I told him at the time I wasn't prepared to do it, yet he's put it in my calendar for next week, I already have a fairly full week next week, including a meeting which is a 5 hour round trip in the other direction!!

Has anyone had to push back on work requests as being unreasonable during the first tri?

Any advice / thoughts would be appreciated.

Ta x

I tried to get out of night shifts 13 hours purely down to sickness, tiredness and mc rate increase during grave yard shift. It's a global energy company and to be fair they were horrible constantly pushing 13 hours night shifts on me. In the end I went into hospital and then was signed off sick on bedrest 4 months early. As it is a male dominated place I work I didn't feel they were understanding at all. I hope you get better fair treatment than I did x

I had the same happen. I had to meet with my boss again and remind her of the lighter work load I needed. She wasn't thrilled having to do it but she did take a few things from me. It's worth a second reminder!

Thanks for you replys. I had to do a risk assessment with my manager yesterday so the subject of driving came up again. He told me my resource manager had called him and voiced his concern over me being able to support my accounts if they limited my driving hours, so I said I fully understood that, but was also aware of what my doctor had advised and we needed to take that advise seriously! Anyway the outcome is a recommendation for me to do at least 2 days a week at home, and for me to manage my workload and driving, and push back on anything I feel is unreasonable, so a bit of a result really!! Like you Pretty Please, I work in a male dominated environment so I guess they're just not used to dealing with issues like this.
