My 2 month old had total neck/head control by 5 weeks, rolled from tummy to back from 6 weeks and now at 8 weeks she's sort of straining to sit up. A lot of the time when we lay her flat on her back - to change her nappy, during the day on her play mat, in her cot if she's not tired enough etc - she lifts her head slightly, her face goes a bit pink like she's straining and she flashes her gums and reaches her arms forward. If we then grab her hands she starts to pull herself and she gets frustrated and cries if we don't pull her up into sitting position! Her face when she does this is hilarious and makes us laugh but should she be getting so frustrated about not being able to sit up this young? Of course it will be months until she can do it by herself and I'm a bit worried she's going to feel this way until then! When we're playing or cuddling during the day on the couch she's never content with laying down now, she always wants us to hold her in sitting position or she gets annoyed! Should I be buying her a "bumbo" or is she too young?

My wee one was the exact same. She is nearly 5 months and can sit unaided, she bounces in her jumperoo like mad and she can stand with minimal support. She still cant push from lying down to sitting by herself but hates lying down. Now she is sort of bored of sitting too and usually wants to stand.

We have never used a bumbo, we just let her sit up on our knee, she hates infant bouncy seats as they are too flat for her so we have her in her swing or jumperoo.

I sound like I'm bragging but she is just a more active baby than a chatty baby. She is quite grumpy and you really need to work to get a smile from her, she doesn't babble yet (although it is coming soon) and she still hasn't laughed for more than a second. All babies are different, mines is just strong and serious like her daddy.

Our bubs sound very similar loeylo!!! I know, I always feel like I'm bragging too lol but my bub is very strong, that's her thing. Even at her 6 week doctors appointment my doctor was like "oh wait, is this her 6 week check..? Surely not, she's so upright and is so in control of her head and limbs". As with yours I thing being strong is my little girls main focus, she'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and has only just properly started smiling at us. Sounds like I may need to get her a jumperoo! Thank you :)

My daughter is very much the same, we got her a bumbo at about 8 weeks and it was the best thing we could have bought, we take it everywhere with us! Isla loves the jolly jumper and when we do tummy time she tries desperately to crawl. We've got little movers on our hands!

My son was very similar. He had very strong head/neck control at birth. He was always wanting to stand more than sit, but he hit all of the physical milestones early. He was walking completely unaided by 9.5 months and hasn't slowed down since. He was slow to laugh, babble, talk, etc though. Vert serious baby. However, at 2.5 he's now ahead verbally and very silly. Some babies just focus on different things. I'm hoping my next is more of the still and smiley sort ;-)

I wouldn't bother with a bumpo. It won't teach her how to sit. It will just prop her into a seated position and limit her mobility. She will actually learn better if you just let her have freedom of movement. If you let her be frustrated, she may surprise you by doing something different from sitting up. Maybe she'll roll over. Maybe she'll just wiggle around. The wiggling is good for her and builds her muscles! She may roll over and then start to scoot around in a couple months.

Thanks ladies! Good to hear it's okay for her to be getting annoyed haha. Yes jessmke! My little one tries to crawl during tummy time as well, it frustrates her so much!

My ds is the same he hates lying flat he is very strong too and can support his head pritty well now ppl get shocked when I tell them he's only 2 months old they presume he's older because of how forward he is and how big and strong he is

My baby is tiny so it looks so strange when she is standing up holding our hands - she's on the 25th centile, lol!
