Piles :(

Im going tomorrow for my first hospital appointment, my GP says Ill need surgery coz they're pretty bad.

I am DREADING it.

Anyone else had this & experiences? xx

How bad are they? How many? I had them really bad when LO was born and had like five or four but now I've only got two small ones, if I don't strain too much they don't bother me, I've got one small internal one too but I've been told they're nothing serious.

I'm trying to avoid surgery tbh! let us know how it goes though if you do have to, can't they just give you cream/pessery??

Ive had them since my first baby was born, they aren't going away with anything and are very sore and bleed quite heavily too. Ive no idea how many or how bad they are coz I havent looked or felt, but my GP thinks they're pretty bad. She said you can have injections or something but its past that now.

*shudders* vile vile vile!!!

xxx

Ouch, three years? That's a long time!! I can see why you'd need to get something done now :( I suppose having another baby didn't help.. hope you can get some answers and that!

hopefully they can do something for you :hugs: xx

Hi

I can totally empathise - you've probably seen my thread on them. I have doc appt next week and will be pushing for referral to the hospital as am sick suffering and am so angry with rubbish care thats left me suffering since I had my DS 6 months ago.

Am scarec re surgery but I cant live like this forever so want to be examined again.

Have you had your appt, how did it go if you dont mind me asking? Hopefully they can sort it out for you :-)

Hey i'm not PP or anything but I did have a camera up my ass what I'm sure they will do for you!

I didn't find the procedure to bad they basically just lube up a pipe kind thing it's around the size of your finger in width and any piles they find they shoot out elastic bands with the pipe that is in your bum! Luckily I didn't have to have any put in mine was minor piles but they did say if they found any bad ones they would band them up for me using the pipe and I wouldnt notice it even if they cut something out for a biopsy!

The only painful bit of the process was when they go round a corner in your bowel but that's only for 1 sec! I would much rather have that re-done then the camera down the throat! x

I'm terrified to have anything done as stupidly I've read horror stories regarding treatments for piles etc.. I only have minor ones too so I don't think I need anything done but I'm hoping they'll eventually go down as its been ages!! I hear banding isn't always successful and can be a little painful but I guess its better than the hemmorhoidectomy... thats the one I'd be scared of!!

nma sorry to hear you're still suffering, hope your next examination they can offer you some support of some kind for it.. let us know how it goes x

I went for the appointment but the letter they sent me in the post had the wrong date on so Im not being seen til mid feb now. Brilliant.

Thanks for that, I was worried about the camera. Everything Ive read says mostly general anaestetic which is kind of a releif but also a bit scary too :(

I dont know anything about the procedure tbh. My Dr said if we were planning on having more kids they may just inject them, but as we aren't they'll probably remove them somehow.

*major shudder* its vile Im so embarrased :(

I thought they would have told you what they were going to be doing? That doesn't seem fair :( hopefully you get a clearer picture soon.

As for being under GA, that's probably a lot less scary and you'll be asleep for anything so won't know whats going on and won't feel anything! I have a lap under GA early Feb which I'm anxious about but I know I won't know anything until I wake up!

Are you having a colonoscopy? I wouldn't have thought you'd need one for piles but perhaps I'm wrong lol. You mentioned a camera and I think I got a little confused!

I hope you can get it sorted.. I'm surprised if they didn't just give you cream or a suppositry, thats all they did for me!!

Don't feel disgusted though hun, everyone gets them, believe me... and its so common after giving birth :hugs: they will go eventually, with or without treatment... I'm sure of it!

Dont be embarrassed, am well past that esp since nhs to blame for my similar issues. Piles gone but not after i'd been to docs 5 times in 6 months when they finally examined me to tell me piles had gone and I just had skin tags -not nice. I could have sworn as I was so angry having been fobbed off with creams I didnt need cos they were too lazy to examine me. Dpc asked me if they bothered me....I had a few choice thoughts I kept to myself as a response believe me. Have been referred onto surgeons but probably be months plus I have MAJOR issues with going back to the same hospital that gave crap crap aftercare so looking into going private. As Lu said loads women have them -one of those things after having children but I know how you feel:cry:

Just an update :) The appointment was horrible he had to put a little tube up BORK absolutely vile I had a very long hot shower when I came home I felt violated :haha:

He says the piles arent that bad but he thinks I have a fisure (sp?) whatever that is. Got to go back in a few weeks.

xxx

A fissure is like a cut that can cause pain and bleeding. Painful but not anything to worry about too much, hopefully you'll get it sorted now xx

I looked up fissure and thats not what he said, he said its like an internal tear. Fisture maybe? I dunno, it was something that sounded like that xx

Hm, yeah probably a fissure. Cut/internal tear/wound. I'm sure it's fixable though. :)

I've still got piles myself but have given up caring lol. They're not hugely bad, but I can't really worry about them right now with the recovery I have to go through.

Hope you feel better soon!!
