I have tachycardia ( rapid hb) to begin with..... It wasn't too bad until recently ...... I can't sleep some nights because my heart races so fast , or I feel like its taking big pumps at a time..... I know your blood increases in the second tri and goes back down towards the end of pregnancy.... So is this normal for 13 wks ?should I not worry too much and just ride it out ? Or is this a cause for concern and discuss with my dr ASAP?

I am not really sure what to tell you about whether or not it is normal. I however, have noticed this happen to me but only when I am nervous. I feel like my heart is pounding out of my chest. Sorry, did not just want to read and run. I know my post is probably not much help.

I have ectopic SVT (Supra-ventricular Tachycardia) My heart rate is generally normal and the i get random boats of palpitations daily that occasionally Turn into an episode of SVT, thankfully i haven't had an episode since being pregnant, but my palpations are definitely happening a lot more often. Usually at night when i try to relax, i notice my heart pounding more often, the palpitations can often go nuts and i can physically see it pulsing through my body.

Nobody seems worried about any of it, i was discharged from my cardiologist 2 years ago as it was ectopic (random), med side effects outweighed the benefits and midwife and OB haven't mentioned sending me back x

I had tachycardia prior to pregnancy and was on medication though I came off when I started trying for a baby. My doctors have said that if I start to get out of breath or feel faint, or have chest pains then I need to go and see them because I'll probably have to see a cardiologist and go back on my beta blockers. My heart averages 104bpm all the time and I've had one bout where it really freaked me out which I'll mention to my consultant when I see her in October. I say mention it to the docs, particularly if it's keeping you awake xxxx

Thanks for the responses ladies..... I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia..... Sometime my heart rate shoots to the 170s...... I was taking a beta blocker before I got pregnant and stopped taking itched I found out...... Has anyone had to take their heart meds while preg? I have a follow up with my cardiologist in a month...... I really don't want to take meds while preg, worried they will put me back on them if I tell the dr..... But I don't know if my fast heart rate spells can hurt baby either :/

I thought I was the only one. I literally can feel my heart racing during the night. If I have my hand in my belly, I can feel my pulse. It's Unsettling. But normal.

Its always best to get these things checked out even if its just for reassurance. Pulse does usually speed up during pregnancy but if you don't feel well with it then its time to ask. I usually have a relatively slow resting HR with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (basically when I go from laying down/sitting up to standing the BP tanks and HR speeds up) Cardiologist basically says have more salt lol. Anyway the last couple weeks, I noticed it speeding up just resting and generally felt awful and it turns out my thyroid has gone extremely hyper and have now been put on beta blockers. So if you have any doubts an concerns its always best to double check:thumbup:

Thanks so much!! So I will definitely talk to my dr about I just to be safe then...... Makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one and this can be pretty normal!
