I'm choosing between the hospitals :-) have you had any experiences recently? :-)

I had my daughter at Basingstoke and will be going there this time too, in 8 days to be exact :) *EXCITED!*

The midwives were lovely and i cant really complain about anything (aside from the epidural screw up - they didnt actually release the drug into the tube so it didnt work, they couldnt work out why i was in so much pain still lol!)

Good luck :)

I had to choose between Frimley Park and Royal Surrey (Guildford) but I went Frimley Park.

I did manage to find an NHS page that allowed direct comparison of hospitals, but I can't find it now :S

It's my first baby so can't comment on Frimley Park personally, but everyone I've spoken to that has given birth there has had a good experience and not so for Surrey, but then Basingstoke might be good as well.

The only positive for Frimley Park is that apparently it is an Army hospital so it gets money from other sources as well as NHS, so perhaps facilities there are better?

Sorry can't be more help, but I'll keep an eye on this post too as I'm interested in other's experiences!

I'm trying to get transferred from Frimley to Basingstoke but Frimley have made a bit of a hash of it tbh!

Oohhhh good luck for 8 days time! Are you being induced? :-) wowowow exciting!

Ah see I'm in the military (RAF) and the maternity services there are all civilian. There are other military services at Frimley (I have used a few!) but the maternity is all Civvie I'm pretty sure...

So far Frimley have been ok for me, but they keep messing me around. I've been forgotten about or "dropped off the radar" as they said, even though I'm classed as high risk... They said I couldn't transfer my care early in pregnancy when I could have... When I rang the labour ward with concerns that my baby hasn't moved for days she totally just fobbed me off.... Hmmm.... But the actual midwives are lovely I found! All my scans have been done there and they were all very pleasant :-)

I had my daughter in frimley. Can't fault them at all. She measured small all the way through and I was well taken care off , plenty of scans and checks. They induced me 5 days early and the care was great , midwives and doctors were lovely then when she arrived she wasn't as small as we all thought and nice and healthy so they checked her n me over, fed me etc ran me a shower and we were home 2 hours after she arrived which we were very pleased with as they knew I wanted a home birth to be back home with my son.

Had my son in Plymouth Derriford and though his birth was great frimley was better, this one will be born in Germany lol x

Yeah Im being induced at 38 weeks +1 day due to having M.E and not coping very well being so uncomfortable and huuuuuggggggeeeeee lol.

Making the most of quieter times with DD today before baby arrives, having a pj day on the sofa with dvds and easter eggs

I had my son at Frimley and I can't praise them highly enough so I am booked in for Frimley again.
The thing that put me off Basingstoke was that two family friends have contracted MRSA from Basingstoke. Although they weren't in for pregnancy related reasons.
I also know someone who is a Midwife at Frimley and she told me (5 years ago) that she had worked at Basingstoke, Frimley and Guildford and Frimley was by far the best.
I figured that if Frimley was good enough for Sophie and Edward then it was good enough for me. :haha:

Thanks very much! When did you give birth there last? Il have to have a good look around the delivery suites I think :-)

Hi there

Can you go and visit ahead of time at Frimley Park? No-ones said anything to me about it, but it would be interesting to do. My antinatal class is at the local health clinic so I won't even see the hospital then, which I was a bit surprised about.

I didn't realise that the maternity unit was civvie, but then so am I! I found that they were a bit slow at the off, and had to phone them a couple of times to arrange my first U/S but the second one was no problem at all.

I had my daughter at frimley, just less than 3 years ago. And will b there again within the next week.
We also had a brilliant experience there and all the midwifes and docs were fabulous!

I had a tour of labour ward b4 my first baby. They did it on a certain day and time, not sure when, but if u call then I'm sure they'll b able to let u know!

MrsClark, I gave birth there in November 2008. I have been to Guildford recently with my Son and to Basingstoke visiting a friend and for me the general overall feel of Frimley was much better. I am very glad I will be having no.2 there in a few weeks.
