I didn't learn about this theory until after my ultrasound otherwise I would have asked the tech where the placenta is! Pic is below, what do you think?

I do know the yolk sac is in the bottom right of the picture. Umbilical cord is toward the top left. The ultrasound was an abdominal and I was 8 weeks exactly. What do you think?!

Keep in mind I am not very good at this as I just learned this myself so I may be wrong. I know lilmisscavier is pretty good at this if you can find her!

Just FYI should be in gender prediction ;)

Long story short left is boy, right is girl. Your placenta is that different colored bulbous sac looking thing around your black gestational sac. Ramzi theory is really supposed to be done at 6 weeks as the placenta moves and shifts between 7-9, making it less accurate. I submitted both 6w and 8w scans to gender experts and they only used my 6w to do ramzi. We'd also need to know if the scan was transvag (preferred) or abdominal, and whether the image was flipped. It's hard to say because it looks wrapped around the entire top and sides (mine did that as well from certain angles) but if I had to guess maybe boy?

Thanks Dobby. It IS in gender prediction. I posted it there first. No one responded.

I had already stated in my pp it was abdominal so image is reversed. I don't have a 6w scan to compare it to unfortunately.

It's all just in good fun anyway. 😄

Shanlee- I think it's a boy too. It's funny how little information there is on google on how to identify the placenta on an ultrasound scan.

Lol yeah not as many people are into ramzi. I have the attention span of a fish and memory of a fish so I forgot you said it was abdominal. Preggo brain at its finest. It is was flipped then I have to switch from boy to girl :). When is your next scan?

Hahaha, I know exactly how you feel. I can't remember anything these days. I start one thing, forget what I'm doing, and start and new thing. By the end of the day I have 10 unfinished projects going!! Hahaha.

I'm not sure when the next scan is. I haven't even seen my midwife yet. My first prenatal is next Friday so I suppose I'll find out then. I'm thinking it'll be another 2-3 weeks which will take me toward the end of the first trimester.

I've found throughout my past pregnancies that it doesn't really matter if it is abdominal or transvaginal, as it is just a different angle that the picture is taken. Adominal is looking directly at the baby but in mirror image, meaning left of the image would be the right side of the body, vice versa. Transvaginal are looking from the bottom up, which is why the sacs often look odd shaped from that angle. I would have guessed your picture was taken abdominally since the sac was round. I would guess boy too based on your image.

ME, if you're around 11-13 weeks ask for a nub shot/have the tech show you the nub. It was right for me at 12w3d. If you're 14 or more ask for a potty shot.
