So it's looking likely I'll be induced on Monday as I'm 10d over and MW said cervix is posterior, closed and not ripe.

Anyone been started off to get going but then laboured and delivered in the water if just started off with pessary?

I was told a water birth was not allowed when I was induced with my first (I only had the pessary).. Not sure if that was because of the induction itself or something else. I was monitored quite a lot during it so maybe that's why.

I wasn't allowed water either when I got induced with DD as they said they needed to monitor the baby and couldn't do that with me in the water. They broke my waters to get me going though as the pessary overstimulated me. I don't know if I had just had the pessary they would have let me use the water. In the end I needed the drip as well and they monitored her heart rate the entire time, so being hooked up to wires probably wasn't all that conducive to having a water birth lol x

Me!!
I was induced with all of my girls and I had a water birth with my second.

I went in at 41+4 pm, and was given a gel and sweep as my cervix was still posterior and 1cm.
This is all it took to get me into labour, which started at just after 9am and my dd2 was born at 11.16 am in the birthing pool :)

Needless to say I went for my third induction thinking rhe same would happen, but I wasnt allowed in the water that time.

It probably just depends on how your cervix is and wether you'll need drugs to start contractions. They usually need to continually monitor you if so and they can't do that in water.

MrsMurphy2b you give me hope :)

Lol yeah, I think it is unusual!

Im assuming it wad because I hadnt needed any drugs or my waters broken, so it was 'almost natural'. When they came round to do a routine examination on the ward in the morning, I was already 5-6cm and contracting every 1.5mins, they didnt need to intervene at all.

No due to monitoring both times. Apparently they are switching to wireless monitors now tho so you can use them in water or while mobilising, worth an ask!!

I had the exact same labour as you with #1 but had to be on the toco machine all the time
