Anyone had fluctuating FSH/ early menopause?

Hello

Last month I was told I was in menopause with a FSH of 76 and a very slim chance of conception. Today I got the next set of bloods back with FSH of 15

I know FSH 15 is still high but it's an awful lot lower than 76!

Absoluteley gutted about the menopause thing- I'm only just 36.

I just wondered if anyone else had had any similar experiences and if they'd managed to conceive either naturally or with help? We're trying our best, and I've just started DHEA in the hope that this might help.

Still in shock about things, I thought ttc would be easy, just shows you can't take things for granted. I'd be really interested to hear of other peoples experiences.

I have FSH issues as well. Was 11 one month, then 5.8 the next on day 3. Then was 15.something on day 10. Was told by one dr to consider egg donation(insert mental breakdown here). Was then told by FS that FSH can be more an indication of the # of eggs and that age is a better predictor of quality. Being 31 they are having us try IUI first so we are hopeful.

Have they recommended any type of treatment for you?(what is DHEA?)
Best of luck to you.. not sure if it is worse to know that there is an issue like that or to not know. Guess it is good to know so you/we can move forward.

I went to see a consultant gynaecologist who specialised in infertility once I'd had the first set of results back and he said only a v slim chance of natural conception, nothing he could do to help as he couldn't ripen the eggs (I had hoped they could somehow get the eggs out before the menopause carried on, obviously I didn't understand then how things worked)- the only thing he could offer was donor eggs (yes same reaction as you), and saying good luck

Do a google search for DHEA and fertility- I asked the consultant about it and he wouldn't recommend it as insufficient evidence but said it wouldn't do any harm. I've researched it, and had a couple of Dr's I know to look into it- they say it's worth trying. Basically it's a type of hormone that the body uses to make lots of other hormones- we have less and less of it as we get older and it seems to improve egg quality and chances of conception. Told my GP he didn't tell me not to but he probably didn't know what it was.

Yes you're right, my friend was saying that tonight, if I hadn't gone and got checked we wouldn't have known and then it might have been too late, at least now I still have a chance. It's hard going though!

I had 3 FSH tests done, first was 74, second was 5 and third was 15!!! anyways i was told donor eggs would be my only option but luckily we did it naturally after 16 months trying.

I'm so sorry it's been a struggle hun. I totally get how frustrating that can be. I was dealing with higher FSH myself... and was told it can vary greatly each month, but that the highest level is the best indicator of what is going on. I would research more on ways to help improve your egg quality. I would also have them do an early cycle and mid-cycle scan to see how many follicles you are producing and how many are maturing. That alone, can give you better insight as to what is going on.

Doctors will only usually tell you odds and statistics and it can be overwhelming and deflating for sure!!! Just don't give up hope!!!! I was told we had about 1/2 the chance as other couples with IUI due to my number of follicles (I only started off with 6 total the last cycle we did the IUI!!!!!). But as our chances of conceiving naturally were pretty much null, we decided to give it a shot!!!!

I have read that Royal Jelly is great for egg quality- and I'm sure there are other supplements you could try. Sometimes we have to be our own advocates hun. I actually took 1 low dose aspirin daily from AF- ovulation the cycle I conceived. I can't say for sure it helped- but as it can help with blood flow to your uterus and ovaries- I figured it was worth a shot!!!!

Sending you LOADS of luck hun... just keep the faith it WILL happen. You may not know exactly how or when... but all worth it in the end.

congratulations seoj, how high was your fsh??

I am just about to go back to the fertility specialist who last time told me donor eggs was only way forward but i am wondering if perhaps natural cycle IUI might work for us as DH has mild male factor. I know i do ovulate some months but just not regularly so though natural IUI might increase our chances.
