anyone had staples?

Hi ladies,
I had my last Dr. appointment today before my c-section on Monday. It is a repeat. With my first I had glue and steri strips and today the Dr said they can't due that with repeat c-sections because it doesn't hold as well, so they will do staples. I am TERRIFIED of how those will feel. Do they hurt to remove? I'm really nervous and appreciate the advice ladies!

hi i have had staples in 2 of my 3c/s and they were ok . just a little nippy coming out once the first one is out you wont notice the others

I had staples and was so worried about getting them removed!! But it was so easy I swear. The body heals and then sort of expels the staple so they are quite easy to pop right out. I had one that was a little stuck because I had an infection but it was almost like the tiniest quick pinch.

i had staples with my first section but not my second and third so i dont know why he said u have to have them after your first? :s but anyway i had fifteen glorious staples that totally freaked me out to look at lol but i promise they dont hurt a bit and taking them out you dont even really feel it x

I had both sutures and staples, but had a classical c section. Neither hurt coming out I'm nurse and take staples out of patients all the time, and it honestly is just a little pinch. I have never had a patient say it hurts

I just had my 2nd c section sealed with dermabond (glue) just like my first

i had staples- they take them out day five- by which point they are ready to come out as your healed and the body is pusing them out. didn't hurt apart from one you feel loads better when they are out- like you can stand straighter!

I had staples with the first, not with the second. They didn't hurt at all coming out, in fact for me it kind of tickled. I was and am mostly numb around my scar so maybe that's why it didn't hurt for me.

I had staples too! They took them out 4 days after my section & replaced them with glue/steri strips.

It really doesnt hurt having them out! Only one of my staples hurt to remove & that was because it had turned sideways, but I barely noticed the rest coming out

I had staples with my first and would've had with my second but I asked the surgeon for stitches... Much preferred the stitches and I feel like I healed a lot better as I had an infection with my first section

I had staples. They pinched a bit coming out, but nothing too bad. I was terrified at first.

Meeee. It's really not that bad, I pinky promise! Your tummy will feel "tight" afterwards, if that makes sense? It is scary to think of them removing them but it really doesn't hurt! One might "pinch" but I really though it was fine. And afterwards, it feels SO much better. Don't be worried, I'm a big wuss and it wasn't that bad!

i wonder if there are any reasons why some people have staples? ive had 3 abdominal surgeries 2 of which were sections..and ive not had them yet! i must admit i can see peoples concerns as seeing pics of them look scary ;-0

im having my second done on Thursday....I have totally specified NO STAPLES!!! the doc said some will, some wont....depends on my surgeon, oh and he also said...its less time consuming at the end!! I dont care...i want glue and internal stitches like last time please ;-(. Nothing to do with how many ive had. My sister has had 4 sections...never had a staple!! They are horrid i think, seen so much surgery in my time, albeit orthopaedic surgery...and staples seem so harsh..and infection inducing, up to 4 times more likely infact!!!!!. yuk...no way am i having them. I also do not like the ladder mark they leave...i cant see my scar that was glued anymore!!

i had glue for first, staples for second amd i dont ever want them again my skin tried growing over some of them. the midwife who came to take them out couldnt believe i had staplez as they have better methods of sealing wound. i am going to request no staples this time

hi ladies!
I went into labor on the 18th (csection was scheduled for the 20th). I tried to vbac but after failure to progress was given an emergency c-section. I did end up being given staples. They weren't awful, but had I had a choice I would have taken the internal stitches and glue again. It was actually pretty uncomfortable to get the staples removed, not all of them but some pinched pretty bad. I am healing well and was sent home with just steri-strips.
